Week Ending 21st July
Tuesday 16th
On the whole we had a very good trial session at Swindon.
Stanton John got the day off to a great start as he recorded a flying 28.36 in his first 4 bend workout since December. John was given plenty of time to recover from some minor niggles suffered in his early qualifying trials and has come back in great order. He pinged the lids to beat the useful Silbury Campion by over 9 lengths. He should improve nicely for this run and will make a very useful addition to the open race team.
Slippery Patch beat Tibetan Skies by over 7 lengths in 28.54. This was a very good run from Patch as he returns from some minor niggles. Tibetan Skies didn't look right though and faces a trip to the vets.
Witcombe Dilemma beat Forest Hi Boy by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.96. Dilemma showed lovely early and led all the way in the trial. Hi Boy stayed the trip strongly today and for a novice pup showed that he's got plenty of improvement left to come.
Redlion Enfield (16.47), Forest Mollie (16.33), Droopys Danneel (16.21) and Saleen Tompajoe (16.49) all delighted us with their sprint runs.
Wednesday 17th
A good night for the kennel with 3 winners.
Inismore Impact got another win in A2 as he led at the fourth bend to score in 29.14.
We managed to qualify all 3 of our runners for the Coventry Owners Bonus Series A2 final. Smoothoppa Razor ran a very good race to pick up our former dog, Rainham Chris in 29.66. Black Beach ran well to qualify in 3rd.
Swords Brett returned to a bit of form as he won the other heat in 29.74.
Thursday 18th
No luck at Hove tonight from our 3 runners but they all ran well enough.
Friday 19th
A quiet day with just 3 runners at Swindon and 3 at Romford. Ding Hero ran well enough at Romford to finish 3rd and he won't be long in hitting top form again. Hopefully just in time for the Champion Stakes.
Saturday 20th
A good evening's racing at Swindon for the Produce final. It was nice to see a few open races on and a bit of variation in distances. We came away with a couple of winners and most of the dogs ran well.
Witcombe Dilemma made it 2 wins from 2 over the 480m trip as he ran a brave first bend to scoot clear and he never looked like being caught, he won in 28.94.
Droopys Harper ran another very brave race as he led all the way in his 685m open. He won in 41.88.
Gemstone Billy, Forest Bound and Stanton Apollo all ran well in defeat.
Sunday 21st
A great night for us at Henlow as Airport Captain won the Category 2 Henlow Gold Cup in a new track record.
Captain flew the lids and led all the way to win by 2 lengths in 32.94 which took around a length and a half off of Westmead Bolt's track record.
This was a great effort from Captain and he'll head to Romford for a maiden 575m open next week before being aimed at the Champion Stakes.
