Week Ending 19th May
Tuesday 14th10 dogs were sent to trials at Swindon today and it was a fairly good session.
Portavoe Lass recorded 29.11 in her first four bend workout for a while.
Newinn Daddy completed his qualifying trials with a 28.91 effort. Winetavern Tadgh posted 29.27 as he returned from his tail operation.
Recent arrivals, Kingsmill Anois (29.24), Burgess Ali (29.65) and Allen Buttercup (29.55) all went nicely in their first four bend trials.
Swords Brett (16.54), Barnish Booth (16.50), Kingsmill Go (16.70) and Swords Messi (16.24) all went well in their sprints.
Wednesday 15th
An early start this morning to get to Wimbledon for the 9:30 kennelling to give a few dogs a look round. Screen Critic posted a flying 28.36 in his first look at the track. He broke very well and ran the track superbly. This was his first workout since the Arc final and should benefit from the run.
Taranis Rex beat Hamar Superstar by 2 lengths as he led all the way in 28.84. Rex ran the track well and this was his first trial since winning on Sky night at Swindon. Hamar Superstar ran very wide at the 2nd bend but showed good pace throughout and looks like being a lovely dog. He would have benefited well from this further experience.
Tibetan Skies posted 28.68 in his solo trial but will probably not be entered for the Derby.
Screen Critic, Taranis Rex and Jolly Bullseye will head to Wimbledon next Wednesday for a final look round before the Derby starts the following week.
We had a couple of winners from our 5 runners tonight at Swindon.
Chilli Spring got a much deserved win as she led all the way to win her A6 by 3 1/4 lengths in 29.58.
Black Beach just got up on the line to win a good quality A2 by a head in 29.09.
Friday 17th
3 winners from today's meetings at Swindon.
Panthers Legend produced a brilliant front running display as he absolutely smashed the lids (posted a flying 2.25 sectional!) on her way to a 4 lengths victory in a personal best 28.89.
Hey Diego returned to form as he pinged the lids to win a good quality A1 by 2 1/4 lengths in 28.73. Hiding Escort and Bellmore Woody both ran well in defeat in the same race.
Marathon bitch, Portavoe Girl, got her first UK win as she led on the run in to win her A3 by 3/4 of a length in 29.30. She'll be stepped up in trip now and will probably head to Hove for a maiden stayers.
Saturday 18th
Just the one winner this evening as Alarming Arti won a messy A3 race in 29.62. Hopefully he'll get a run over the 6 bends again soon.
Performance of the Week
Panthers Legend has to get the vote this week for her brilliant run in the A2. She's only had four races in this Country but has won 2 of them and looks to be a nice prospect. It'll take a good dog to lead her if she keeps her trapping boots on!
