Week Ending 29th December
Monday 23rd
A good evening at Romford as we won both heats of the Stayers competition.
The soon to retire Ding Hero really battled well to take his heat by a short head in 35.93 while the useful Fairhill Paddy led all the way in his heat to win by 3 lengths in a fast 35.19.
Unfortuantley Paddy cut his foot in the race and missed the final on Friday night. We now face a race against time to have him ready for the Coronation Cup. It would be a great shame to miss this comp as he's more than good enough to go a long way in it.
Thursday 26th
Just the one winner from today's Boxing day meeting.
Gleannrue Mario made it 2 from 2 at Swindon as he showed a lot of guts to hold on to win his A2 by a short head in 29.28.
Swansalona Bolt ran well on debut to be beaten 1 1/4 lengths in his A6. He won't be too long in winning.
Friday 27th
A very quiet day for the kennel with just Ding Hero at Romford in the stayers final. Ding has run his heart out again to finish 2nd, beaten just over a length.
Saturday 28th
Two winners to finish a quiet week off with.
Droopys Harper who's been running well of late without winning, led off the 2nd bend to gamely win his S1 by 3/4 of a length in 42.09.
Jet Stream Olly led home a kennel 1-2-3 in one of the A1's. Olly broke well and led pretty much all the way to beat Glenmire Warrior by 1 length in a personal best 28.79. I was pleased with the run of Warrior who looked much more at home on a galloping track and it's possible he'll head to Sittingbourne next week for a maiden. Perhaps the most eye catching dog to take from the race was Swansalona Diva who showed huge promise to finish 3rd beaten just over 4 lengths in her first ever race. It's a massive ask for a novice to go straight into top heat against experienced campaigners but she handled the occasion well and would have gone a lot closer without crowding down the back straight. She really does look a terrific prospect.
Gemstone Jack ran his best race so far since returning from injury as he finished 2nd in the other A1. Jack recorded 28.62 but had no answer to Erics Gav who was a very impressive winner of the race.

Top 10 Prospects To Follow In 2014

Forest Gavin (Droopys Scolari x Forest May - June 2012)
Gavin joined the kennel nearly 3 months ago after a sizzling 28.69 official trial at Newbridge at just 15 months of age. We've given him plenty of time to settle in and mature and he'll begin his qualifying trials in the new year with his main aim being the Monmore Puppy Derby.

Southern Mesut (Ballymac Maeve x Foxes Lady - Sept 2011)
Mesut has already had 5 races for the kennel but it is still somewhat unknown just how good he could be. He began life in A1 company at Swindon where he showed huge pace to the third bend before tiring coming home. He was quickly switched to Romford where he made an immediate impact winning by 5 1/4 lengths in 24.17. He's since gone on to win 2 further opens posting a very fast 23.83. I'm convinced he'll stay a 460m trip comfortably and he may even stay the Derby trip as well. He's a top prospect for sure.

Boom Boom Lass (Vans Escalade x Heroes Last Lass - June 2012)
Lass has made a huge impact in just 4 career starts to date.
She won her debut race by 13 3/4 lengths in 29.17, was beaten in a hot A2 after that but showed the benefit from that experience as she then won an A2 by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.03 before winning a really tricky A1 race by 4 1/4 lengths in a personal best 28.90.
Lass looks to have the complete package. Very good early, she's a good and brave bend runner and stays the tough 480m Swindon trip well. She's not raced for a few weeks now as she missed a Romford maiden after being off colour but she has a huge future for sure and could well make an Oaks bitch.

Boom Boom Hero (Vans Escalade x Heroes Last Lass - June 2012)
Hero is a full brother to Boom Boom Lass and is another great prospect. He made a brilliant start to his career winning two A2's on the bounce in 29.23 and 29.02 before being very badly crowded in his third race. We then took him to Monmore which was perhaps too soon for him and he returned to Swindon to be beaten only 3/4 of a length in A2. He was crowded early on but still recorded 29.09. He's now being given a while off to strengthen up and mature as he's a big 36 kilo dog and needs time.

Dragon Big Bux (Tullymurry Act x Tullymurry Mona - June 2012)
Bux was purchased after finishing 3rd in the Gain Future Champion Unraced stake at Enniscorthy in October. The two dogs that finished in front of him (Kingsmill Sky and Deanridge Pennys) are among Irelands top prospects so the form is rock solid. Our fella led them to the third bend and he possesses some fierce early pace. He's gone well in his couple of trials so far but will be kept to trips around 460m for the time being. He'll more than likely have the Monmore puppy as his main target as well.

Fiscal Cliff (Droopys Scolari x QuaremSparkler - Jan 2012)
Cliff was purchased after a stunning debut run at Drumbo Park in a sprint race. He's only had 3 races for us so far but showed a glimpse of what's to come when winning an A2 in good style in 28.86.
He was running very well against Erics Gav in a hot A1 race before being badly crowded at the bend and has since strained a hock in a Monmore trial and will be put away for the winter. He needs a bit of time to grow up this lad but he'll make a very nice dog next year and has a bright future.

Forest Oscar (Droopys Scolari x Forest May - June 2012)
Oscar is a full brother to Gavin and was purchased after I saw him run in an unofficial trial at Newbridge. He's a big powerful dog with some lovely early pace but he's done so little it's not really known how good he could be. He's one official trial on the card of 29.25 Newbridge at 15 months old which is a lovely run.

Millstreet Duke (Westmead Hawk x Little Flutter - September 2011)
Duke has only just joined the kennel last week but he looks an exciting dog. He's kept very good company at Shelbourne Park and has won his last two A1 races over the 575yard trip. He's been purchased in the hope he'll stay the 575m trip at Romford as he could be a very useful dog if he does but if he doesn't he'll still win plenty of 4 bend races at the likes of Hove and Sittingbourne.

Boom Boom Dave (Lughill Jo x Swift Reel - June 2012)
Dave has won 2 of his 5 races but has probably lived in the shadows of the other Boom Boom pups somewhat and not been given the credit he deserves. Dave is a big handsome wide running greyhound who still has plenty to learn but has already posted 29.09 at Swindon and looks like he'll thrive when stepped up in trip next year. He finished lame in his only A1 race to date and will be left off for a while now to grow on.

Swansalona Diva (College Causeway x Odell Faith - Jan 2012)
We've had Diva in the kennel a long time now but we've needed to be very patient with her. The whole litter suffered from sore metacarpal joints so we backed right off this girl after her schooling. She was given two sprint trials at Swindon in which she went very well but again she was a bit sore so we gave her another 4 months off to mature and it seems to have done the trick. She posted 16.73 in her first trial back and then amazed us when posting 28.99 and 28.83 in her first ever four bend trials. She's bred to stay and finds another gear from the third bend and is without doubt one of the best and most interesting prospects we've got at the moment.
Week Ending 22nd December
Monday 16th
Another cracking day with 3 winners from our 6 runners.
Glendine Girl got a much deserved win in her A6 as she led all the way to win in 29.89.
Lovely youngster Forest Lexie, firmly left the A4 grade behind her today as she led all the way to win by 3 lengths in 29.23. She's a long way off being fully matured yet and will make a nice bitch next year.
Jet Stream Girl made it a hat trick of wins as she came from behind kennel mate Stanton Ovation to win their A4 by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.82.
Over at Coventry, Forest Bound ran his heart out to finish 2nd in his semi final of the Golden Muzzle but he unfortunately finished injured with a chipped hock and misses the chance to run in the final. Freddie should make a full recovery though and will be back on track in a couple of months.
Tuesday 17th
Glenmire Warrior graded at Swindon today with a fluent 28.88 trial win. He'd not been suited to Romford so we decided to give him a graded run or two before heading back out on the open race scene at more galloping tracks. He beat Gemstone Meg by 3 1/4 lengths but she returned with a nasty cut to her foot and faces another spell on the easy list.
Fairhill Paddy moved well to record 28.80 after his fall at Henlow and will now head back to Romford.
Unraced pup, Swansalona Diva, produced a stunning qualifying trial this morning. This was her first ever four bend run and she won by 12 3/4 lengths in 28.99. It was quite an incredible effort considering the lack of schooling and work she's had. She looks like she could make a top class stayer. Her brother, Swansalona Bolt qualified for racing today with his 30.08 effort.
Wednesday 18th
The very long delay in getting racing underway proved to be worth the wait as we had another couple of winners plus the forecast in the owners bonus series.
Tseal made it two wins on the trot as he led at the first bend to just hold off kennel mate Alarming Arti by a short head in 29.26 to win the £500 owners bonus final. It's been hard work with Tseal since he joined the kennels and it's great that the patience his owners have shown has been rewarded.
Gleannrue Mario won his first race at Swindon by 2 1/4 in 29.22 as he led from halfway in his A2.
Thursday 19th
A huge night for the kennel as Droopys Danneel won the English Oaks at Belle Vue.
It's a dream come true for us to win our first Classic and Danneel was a very deserving winner of the £15,000 first prize.
She broke well but got turned sideways at the bend but showed huge guts and determination to force her way to the front on the third bend before staying on strongly to win by a length.
Although she's more than capable of carrying on racing at the very top level, Danni is now 3 years old and there's little else to achieve once you've won the Oaks so she's now been retired to the breeding paddocks.
Danni had 19 races for the kennel, she won 12 of these, finished 2nd 6 times and was 4th in the other race which was after seasonal break. Not a bad record at all!
It's almost impossible to replace a bitch of this class and attitude but she'll leave us with some great memories and we'll never forgot our first Oaks winner.
Friday 20th
A few winners at Swindon today.
Sligo Mick got the ball rolling as he flew the lids and led all the way to win his A2 in 29.10.
Forest Pearl took full advantage of a drop to A3 class as she led all the way to win by 5 lengths in 29.30. I don't think we've seen the best of this girl by a long way yet and I'd expect some good improvement in the better weather next year.
Burgess Ali won her first race back since injury as she led at the first bend to win in 29.91.
Smoothoppa Razor led all the way in her A2 to win in 29.20.
Allen Buttercup won the bitches open at Romford in good style as she won by 1 1/2 lengths in 24.32.
Saturday 21st
Zamboni Zazzle made it a clean sweep of finals for the kennel this week as she led all the way in her £500 Owners Bonus Series to win by 1 length in 29.29.
Redlion Enfield missed all the trouble in her race as she was left clear to win by over 13 lengths in a personal best 29.53.
Gemstone Jack got a much deserved win in his A1 as he stayed strongly to beat kennel mate, Jet Stream Olly by 1/2 a length in 29.00. It was good to see Jack back to winning ways and hopefully he'll continue to improve. I think a lot of people forget how talented this lad is on his day.
Sunday 22nd
Jet Stream Odds made a disappointing exit from the Xmas Cracker at Henlow tonight as he was slowly away and got crowded early. Although Ozzy tends to rail the bends, we may try this fellow with a wide seed and see how he gets on as his first instinct is always to move right from the traps.
It was great to see Jolly Bullseye back to winning ways as he pinged the lids and led all the way to win his open in 27.70. Bullseye had ran a stinker the week before but we couldn't find any reason for it so decided to keep him racing and it proved the right move. He's had so little running of late that I think he was just lacking that race sharpness but hopefully he's back to himself and will head to Sittingbourne next time.

Week Ending 17th November
Monday 11th
Another really good day at Swindon for us as we continued our excellent recent form with 3 winners.
Forest Pearl made it a quick fire double after her first career win last week as she led all the way in her A4. Last weeks victory had obviously done her confidence the world of good and she won impressively in a fastest of the day 29.22. Hopefully she'll continue to go from strength to strength.
Der Lone Razor made it career victory number 20 from his 93 starts as he got up late to win his A3 by 3/4 of a length in 29.76. His owners, the House Of Razor syndicate have been great supporters of the kennel and have just purchased a superbly well bred June 12 novice pup who will begin trialling in the next few weeks.
Zamboni Zazzle completed the days work as she just held off kennel mate, Alarming Arti by a short head in their A3. She won in 29.44 and has now won 9 of her 35 starts.
Tuesday 12th
A fairly busy trial day with 12 dogs going to Swindon.
Mercurial Jet returned from a minor niggle with a good 29.42 effort. He beat Fleetwood Kittie by a length who completed her qualifying today. Both of these will make nice types next year.
Swords Brett (28.95) and Southern Angel (29.07) both re qualified today and will be kept at Swindon for the time being. Angel stayed very strongly to the drop again today and her future may lie over a slightly further trip.
Ring The Alarm pinged the lids and won her trial nicely in 29.08 as she returned from a cut foot.
Recent arrival, Dubai Swift, was a bit disappointing in his first 480 trial for us as he only posted 29.70 but it's early days for him yet.
Stanton Apollo (16.45), Jolly Bullseye (16.21), Gleannrue Mario (16.47), Redlion Enfield (16.99) and Barnish Booth (16.39) all went in their sprint trials.
The purchase of a new quad bike a couple of weeks ago (the last one proved somewhat unreliable!) has already reaped dividends with the recent set of results proving that you cant do without a gallop. It's been in constant use lately and is a major asset to the kennel and the quad bike makes very light work of keeping it in great order.
Wednesday 13th
Another couple of winners from this evenings meeting at Swindon. Veteran Moody Mare got another victory to add to her tally as she led all the way to win her A3 by 1/2 a length in 29.39.
Brilliant youngster, Boom Boom Lass, made it 2 wins from 3 career starts as she led around the 1st bend to win a decent A2 race by 1 1/4 lengths in a personal best 29.03. She's only a June 12 baby and to think she's already capable of this type of performance after just 3 races is frightening. She'll certainly be one of the kennel stars over the coming months and years.
This morning we took delivery of another top prospect from Ireland, he's only a baby and will be given plenty of time to settle in before he starts off but he'll have the Monmore Puppy Derby as his main target.
Airport Captain is making good progress from his ligament injury sustained last time out at Romford. He's been bandaged up again for another week to restrict movement of the hock but should make a full recovery in time.
Thursday 14th
Just a couple of runners at Hove tonight. Recent arrival, Gleannrue Mario, missed the break in his maiden sprint and was crowded on the bend. Ardfert Warhawk ran well to the 4th bend where he tired but he'll come on nicely for the run.
Friday 15th
We'll begin at Swindon where we managed another 3 winners.
Jan 09 veteran, Alarming Alan, made it two wins on the trot as he won his A2 by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.14. Alan is a lovely dog who's made a tremendous return to racing after a broken hock.
Reel Tiger won her A6 race in only her 2nd ever start as she led virtually all the way to win by 1 length in 29.59.  Tiger is only a March 12 and can only improve.
Nickys Love won her A4 in great style on her return to graded racing at Swindon. Poppy has had a very start stop career with various things going wrong but she's in terrific form now and hopefully she can have a good run of consistent racing. She won tonight by 7 lengths in a personal best 29.16.
There were also some really good performances in defeat this evening with Jet Stream Jet, Alarming Dasher and Gemstone Jack all running well to finish 2nd in their respective races and there were personal best times for Punchestown Boy and Boom Boom Dave who won't be long in winning again.
Over at Romford we didn't manage a winner from our 7 runners but there were some very good performances again. Allen Buttercup, Jet Stream Odds, Southern Mesut and Jolly Be Good all ran very well in defeat and they'll more than likely head back there again next week.
Saturday 16th
Two winners to end the week with.
Ring The Alarm pinged the lids and led all the way to win her A2 in great style by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.06. Suzie had been off a few weeks since cutting her toe so it was great to see her return with a win. Boom Boom Hero was sent off a short priced favourite for the same race but got done straight out the boxes and was badly crowded on the bend. He'll have a short rest now.
Taranis Diva won her A2 by 3/4 of a length in 29.22. Diva has been off injured for a good while now and should continue to improve with more racing and work.
Droopys Danneel recorded a good calculated 28.71 in her pre race trial and will head off to Belle Vue next week for a trial in preparation for the Oaks.

Monday, 11 November 2013

Week Ending 10th November
Monday 4th
A couple of winners to begin a good week with.
Sligo Mick got a much deserved win in his A2 as he pinged the lids to record a good 2.36 sectional and went on to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.09.
Stanton Ovation who's been running consistently well of late got a victory in his A4 as he won by a head in 29.52.
We had a couple of runners at Romford in the stayers comp and were unlucky to get both Ding Hero and Champion Stakes hero Airport Captain drawn together. Both qualified in 2nd and 3rd respectively but Captain was subsequently lame on his hind leg and has damaged the ligaments in the hock and faces around 3 months on the easy list. It's a massive shame as he'll now miss the Essex Vase which was his last remaining target of the year but he should make a full recovery which is the main thing.
Tuesday 5th
11 dogs were sent to trials this morning and it was a fairly good session for us.
Gemstone Jack pleased with a 29.15 solo. Tseal went nicely in his first 4 bend trial for us posting 29.31. June 12 baby Fleetwood Kittie delighted us with her 29.62 effort in beating Forest Lexie (also a June 12) by 1 3/4 lengths. Reel Tiger who's a March 12 unraced pup recorded 30.00.
Nickys Love returned to Swindon with a 29.58 run while new recruits Gleannure Mario (16.37) and Dubai Swift (16.83) went well enough in their sprints.
Mercurial Jet (16.61), Glendine Girl (16.82) and Oxfordshire Gold Cup winner Barnish Booth (16.38) all went well as they returned from various problems.
Wednesday 6th
A poor day at Hove in the first leg of the BAGS Track Championship as none of our 4 runners did any good. I think the whole Swindon team looks very weak this year and there's not been much forward planning to it at all which is a shame. It's come at a bad time for our kennel as most of the existing dogs have won more than one open race and the whole bunch of exciting new dogs we've got coming through wont be qualified in time to take part which is a shame as our kennel has always had an excellent record in these events.
We managed another couple of winners at Swindon with Droopys Harper and Forest Pearl on the score sheet. It was great to see Forest Pearl win her first race for us after several good runs in defeat. She won by a head in 29.53. Droopys Harper won his A2 in 29.39.
Friday 8th
We'll start at Swindon where we had a brilliant night as the kennel won the last 5 races of the night and there were some superb performances from our new arrivals.
Fairhill Paddy got the ball rolling as he made it 2 from 2 since arriving from Ireland as he flew the lids (2.34 sectional) and led all the way to win in 28.55. He looks to be improving all the time now and will head to Romford next week with a possible tilt at the Essex Vase on the agenda.
Fiscal Cliff showed the benefit for last week's debut run at Swindon as he pinged the lids and led all the way to win his A2 in 28.86. Cliff has only had 3 races in his life now and has won 2 of them (the other was a stunning sprint debut in Drumbo) and he's not 2 until January. He'll be given some more experience in the coming weeks and will then more than likely be put away for the winter.
Forest Mollie beat Gemstone Jack by a neck in the other A1 and both dogs ran really well. Jack was returning from a lengthy lay off with a wrist injury and will improve for the race while Mollie has been very lightly raced lately and will really benefit from some consistent racing. She won in 29.05.
Alarming Alan got a much deserved win in his A2 and he came with a late rattle to get up on the line in 29.57.
June 12 baby, Boom Boom Dave, also showed the benefit for his debut run last week as he looked a different dog tonight in winning the A3 by 3 1/4 lengths in 29.27. This lad is bred to stay and is another very good prospect for next year. Finalee is also worthy of a mention as she ran a good race to finish 2nd. This was only her 3rd ever race and there's plenty more to come from this youngster.
Over at Romford we just had the one winner but there were a couple of good performances too.
Southern Mesut who was very impressive on debut last week at Swindon in the A1 was given a drop in trip to the 400m and it certainly paid dividends as he led pretty much all the way to win by 5 1/4 lengths in a very good 24.17. This was a hugely impressive run for such an inexperienced dog (he'd only had 5 runs in Ireland before coming over) and looks to have a bright future.
Under The Radar, Glanmire Warrior and Jet Stream Odds all ran well in defeat and will head back to Romford again next week.
Saturday 9th
Another very good night for us as we returned with 3 winners and again we had some hugely pleasing runs from some of our new recruits. We've worked really hard in recent months on improving the class of the kennel and to get the open race team ready for next year and we're delighted with how the youngsters have progressed so far.
Jan 12 puppy, Jet Stream Olly, won at the third time of asking in A1 and did it really well in the end as he came from behind kennel mate Swords Messi to win in 29.04. It's tough for any pup to go straight in to A1 company but Olly has handled himself very well and is only just starting to settle in so there should be plenty more to come from this lad.
Boom Boom Hero made it 2 from 2 as he took a step up in class in his stride to win by 1 3/4 lengths in a personal best 29.02. This lad is only a June 12 baby and is a long way off being the finished article yet and at 35.5 kilos will need time to strengthen up but I really don't think we've had a pup as good as this at his age before. Marley as he is known is a huge prospect and will possibly head to Monmore in December for a puppy competition before being put away for a break. His main target will be the Monmore Puppy Derby in the early part of next year.
Punchestown Boy has made a brilliant start to his racing career and made it 2 wins from 3 starts as he led virtually all the way in his A2 to win by 2 3/4 lengths in a good 29.18. Although Punch is an Aug 11 whelp he was un raced in Ireland before coming over and then went lame in a qualifying trial for us so he's very inexperienced which makes his record all the more impressive.
Puppies Jet Stream Jet and Reel Tiger both ran well in defeat and wont be too long in winning.

In Other News.....
Off The Radar left us this week to enjoy his new life as a pet. He's got a lovely home in Reading close to Tony and Tina who owned him during his career. Radar is a smashing little dog with a lovely nature and was a cracking dog on the track winning countless races. He'll make a lovely pet.
We've some more lovely young pups settling in at the kennel that haven't made an appearance yet this side of the water. 3 of them have been bought to make top class but it's likely they'll wait until next year now before making their debuts. We look to have a very good team in the making for next year.
Hopefully we'll have a few dogs to run in the Essex Vase in a couple of weeks but the loss of track record holder, Airport Captain has severely weakened the team.
The next main competitions after the Essex Vase will be the English Oaks and Laurels at Belle Vue. Droopys Danneel, Alarming Jacks and Allen Buttercup will be our main hopes in the Oaks while Jolly Bullseye and Jet Stream Odds could be ideal for the Laurels.
Derby finalist and Arc runner-up Screen Critic is in great order at home as he recovers from the injuries sustained in the Select Stakes at Nottingham. He'll be ready for galloping in a couple of weeks but wont be racing again until next year now.

Wednesday, 24 July 2013

Week Ending 21st July
Tuesday 16th
On the whole we had a very good trial session at Swindon.
Stanton John got the day off to a great start as he recorded a flying 28.36 in his first 4 bend workout since December. John was given plenty of time to recover from some minor niggles suffered in his early qualifying trials and has come back in great order. He pinged the lids to beat the useful Silbury Campion by over 9 lengths. He should improve nicely for this run and will make a very useful addition to the open race team.
Slippery Patch beat Tibetan Skies by over 7 lengths in 28.54. This was a very good run from Patch as he returns from some minor niggles. Tibetan Skies didn't look right though and faces a trip to the vets.
Witcombe Dilemma beat Forest Hi Boy by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.96. Dilemma showed lovely early and led all the way in the trial. Hi Boy stayed the trip strongly today and for a novice pup showed that he's got plenty of improvement left to come.
Redlion Enfield (16.47), Forest Mollie (16.33), Droopys Danneel (16.21) and Saleen Tompajoe (16.49) all delighted us with their sprint runs.
Wednesday 17th
A good night for the kennel with 3 winners.
Inismore Impact got another win in A2 as he led at the fourth bend to score in 29.14.
We managed to qualify all 3 of our runners for the Coventry Owners Bonus Series A2 final. Smoothoppa Razor ran a very good race to pick up our former dog, Rainham Chris in 29.66. Black Beach ran well to qualify in 3rd.
Swords Brett returned to a bit of form as he won the other heat in 29.74.
Thursday 18th
No luck at Hove tonight from our 3 runners but they all ran well enough.
Friday 19th
A quiet day with just 3 runners at Swindon and 3 at Romford. Ding Hero ran well enough at Romford to finish 3rd and he won't be long in hitting top form again. Hopefully just in time for the Champion Stakes.
Saturday 20th
A good evening's racing at Swindon for the Produce final. It was nice to see a few open races on and a bit of variation in distances. We came away with a couple of winners and most of the dogs ran well.
Witcombe Dilemma made it 2 wins from 2 over the 480m trip as he ran a brave first bend to scoot clear and he never looked like being caught, he won in 28.94.
Droopys Harper ran another very brave race as he led all the way in his 685m open. He won in 41.88.
Gemstone Billy, Forest Bound and Stanton Apollo all ran well in defeat.
Sunday 21st
A great night for us at Henlow as Airport Captain won the Category 2 Henlow Gold Cup in a new track record.
Captain flew the lids and led all the way to win by 2 lengths in 32.94 which took around a length and a half off of Westmead Bolt's track record.
This was a great effort from Captain and he'll head to Romford for a maiden 575m open next week before being aimed at the Champion Stakes.

Open Race Dog For Sale

We are pleased to be able to offer Stanton John (August 10) for sale to stay in the kennel.
We have had John in the kennel for a few months now but he suffered a couple of minor niggles in his early qualifying trials so we didn't want to offer him for sale until we felt sure he was 100% sound. He was given plenty of time to recover from these niggles
(in fact we gave him 6 weeks extra as we've always rated him highly).
After his 2 come back sprint trials in which he posted 16.60 and 16.43 we were confident that he was ready to be stepped up to 4 bends and we were over the moon when he posted a flying 28.36 at Swindon which is just over 2 lengths off the track record! This was an incredible run considering it was John's first 4 bend workout since December. John pinged the lids to record a very good 2.42 sectional on the way to beating an A1 dog by over 9 lengths.
In his last race in Ireland, John won an A1 at Drumbo in a very good 28.75, prior to this he'd recorded a flying 28.04 open race win at Derry and had won a novice race in Shelbourne Park in 29.17.
John looks well suited to a 550-600 yard trip and looks an ideal open dog for the likes of Swindon, Hove and Nottingham. He's got good early and stays strong. He will be given his last qualifying next week at either Swindon or Hove before we find a maiden open for him.
John is offered for sale at £3000

Monday, 15 July 2013

Week Ending 14th July
Tuesday 9th
We had 7 for trials this morning at Swindon. Gemstone Meg pleased us with her 41.93 solo 6 bend spin and she'll hopefully run on Produce final night in the maiden stayers.
Active Lark returned to the graded strength after her 29.73 effort.
Tibetan Skies was disappointing as he only posted 29.29 in his first trial since returning from a groin strain. He'll have another trial next week where we hope to see plenty of improvement.
Slippery Patch moved very well in his first sprint trial since a lay off as he beat Southern Angel by 2 lengths in a fast 16.27. This was also a very good run from Angel as she's been off with a shoulder problem.
Droopys Danneel returned from seasonal rest to post a very good 16.32. She'll have another sprint next week before being stepped up. She has the Brighton Belle and English Oaks as her main targets before heading off to the breeding paddocks.
Stanton John posted 16.43 as he looks to come back from a series of niggling injuries. John is a really nice type who should make top grade at Swindon easily enough but we've just had no luck with him so far. Touch wood his problems are behind him now though.
Wednesday 10th
Just the one winner tonight at Coventry as Hey Diego beat kennel mate Stanton Apollo in the A1. Gelert was quickly into stride and led all the way to win by 3 lengths in a good 29.35. We were very pleased with Apollo's run though and he's coming back to form nicely now.
Swords Messi and Nickys Love ran well in defeat.
Thursday 11th
Harmar Superstar maintained his 50% open race strike rate as he won one of the Sussex Cup trial stakes in 30.35. He's a really good genuine dog this and he should continue to improve.
Gemstone Jack, Witcombe Dilemma and Mr Van Persie were all out of luck in their races.
Friday 12th
The main event this evening was our trip to Dundalk with Screen Critic for the Dundalk International race. It turned out to be a messy affair and our chance was gone after being forced to check at the bend but Batman ran on well enough and came out the race in good order. It was a great experience to be involved in such a prestigious race and I learnt a lot from the experience of having our first runner in Ireland. We spent the day with Paddy Kehoe who breeds the Forest dogs and took the chance to see our 2 pups that we have out there. They are 2 blue bitches by Droopys Scolari x Forest May. We've got Taranis Diva from May's previous litter and I've been really pleased with her so thought it was well worth snapping a couple of the next litter up. One of them has just begun schooling and has gone very well.
Over at Swindon we had 2 winners on the afternoon Bags card. Der Lone Razor won his A3 in good style in 29.22 while Alarming Alan made it two wins on the trot as he won his A2 by 2 lengths in 29.12.
At the evening meeting, Forest Bound made it 3 wins from 5 starts since joining the kennel as won the A1 in impressive fashion. Freddie has been staying the 480m trip very strongly and he led on the run in to win in a personal best 28.79. He's a lovely dog to have in the kennel and is still young enough to think there is more improvement to come. Hopefully we'll find him a race on Produce final night.
Saturday 13th
Just the one winner at Swindon as Allen Buttercup produced her best performance so far as she led all the way in the A1 to win by 3/4 of a length in a personal best 28.92. She has a lovely turn of early and has won 2 of her 7 UK races.
Sunday 14th
A rare trip to Henlow was rewarded with 2 winners from our 2 runners.
Gurrane Rocket ran the track superbly as he won the sprint open. Rocket Man is not really a sprinter but he's been left desperately short of races at both Swindon and now Coventry so we've just needed to find some races for him. He'd be a really good little dog with some consistent runs but it was great to get this win for his very patient owners.
Airport Captain made it through to the Gold Cup final as he won his semi final in great style. Captain flew the lids and led all the way to win by 5 lengths in a very good 33.29. We've a nice draw in the final and we'd have a great chance of winning with a decent break. I'd imagine he'd head to Romford for the Champion Stakes next as he looks the ideal type.

Monday, 3 June 2013

Week Ending 2nd June
Monday 27th
Glenbane Air got the week off to a winning start as he led at the first bend to win his A2 in 29.33.
Tuesday 28th
A quiet trial session with just four dogs going to Swindon.
Recent arrival, Forest Bound, impressed on his first look at the track as he led around the first bend to win his trial in a fastest of the day 28.90. Bound is a lovely young dog who's already won a few opens at Hove and is a really nice addition to the kennel.
Kingsmill Go completed her qualifying trials with a 29.40 effort and should improve nicely over the coming weeks. She reached as a nice Stake final in Ireland and will win her fair share.
Unraced puppy, Finalee, really impressed in her first four bend trial as she pinged the lids and led all the way in 29.25. She looks to have a bright future. Her sister, Basher Dooley, didn't go quite so well in her sprint as she posted 17.60. She still looks very green and hopefully she'll improve next week.
Wednesday 29th
No winners from this evenings Swindon meeting. Harmar Superstar and Swords Messi both ran well in defeat at Coventry in their 450m opens and will both benefit from their runs.
Southern Angel beat Stanton Apollo and Nickys Love in 29.84 in their 485m trial while Chilli Hot Sauce beat Southern Belle and Mullingar Mer in 28.05 for the 450m.
Thursday 30th
A good night at Hove as we managed another couple of open winners.
Tibetan Skies continued his excellent form as he completed a hat trick of wins over Hove's 515m trip. Skies was slowly into stride again but ran a lovely first two bends to get himself into contention before flying down the back and came home strongly to win going away.
Portavoe Girl got her first open win for us as she led virtually all the way in her maiden 695m race.  She was always going to be tough to beat when leading and she'll probably be stepped up to a marathon trip next time.
Ring The Alarm and Taranis Diva both ran well in defeat and will head back to Hove again next week.
Friday 31st
We'll begin at Wimbledon where we had a magical start to our Derby campaign with two winners.
Screen Critic broke well and showed very good early to turn a close up second to the useful Farloe Calvin, it was a great buckle down the back straight between the two before our lad went on at the third bend to win by 2 1/2 lengths in a fast 28.58. This was a very good performance from Batman and he again looked well suited to Wimbledon.
The better performance perhaps came from Jolly Bullseye though as he showed top class early to lead all the way in 28.80. This was a very good heat with 4 top class dogs and our lad was desperate for the race so this was very pleasing. He'll improve a lot for this run and hopefully we'll get some luck along the way.
We had a couple of winners at Swindon as well. Inishmore Impact led at the third bend to win his A2 in 29.18 and Gemstone Meg got her first win since returning from season to win her A2 by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.05.
Saturday 1st June
Bellmore Woody returned to form with a trap to line win in the A1. He won by just over 5 lengths in 28.90. Smoothoppa Razor beat kennelmate Alarming Alan by 1 3/4 lengths in 29.09. Quite why Alan was upgraded after finishing 4th in A3 last time is anyone's guess though!
Chow For Now completed his qualifying trials with a 29.28 effort before racing.
Taranis Rex was totally out of luck in his 1st round heat of the Derby as he was badly crowded out of the boxes which ended his chances of qualification.

Performance of the Week
We've had some really good performances this week including Tibetan Skies, Screen Critic, Bellmore Woody and Gemstone Meg but the vote really has to go to Jolly Bullseye for his 1st round Derby win. It was a brilliant run considering he'd only had one trial since the Arc final nearly a month ago.

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

Week Ending 26th May
Monday 20th
Just the one winner to begin the week with.
Bookies Girls beat kennel mate Winetavern Tadgh by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.10.
We had our first trial session at Coventry today with 7 dogs going through their paces.
Chilli Hot Sauce posted 16.10 in her first look at the track. Stanton Apollo just held on from Swords Brett to win his 485m trial in 29.82 with Southern Angel only just behind them.
Barnish Booth beat Mullingar Mer and Southern Belle in their 450m trial in 27.62.
Tuesday 21st
8 dogs were sent to Swindon for trials today and it was a fairly good session.
Burgess Ali (29.69), Kingsmill Anois (28.86) and Allen Buttercup (29.25) all completed their qualifying trials while Zamboni Zazzle rejoined the graded strength with a 30.18 effort.
Recent arrivals, Finalee (16.67) and Chow For Now (16.58) both impresses in their first sprint trials.
Wednesday 22nd
We'll begin at Wimbledon where our 3 Derby entries were given their last workouts before the competition starts and went well enough.
Screen Critic beat Taranis Rex by just over 6 lengths in 28.73. The time was a bit puzzling as both dogs lost 40 spots on their trials from last week but apparently they had added some new sand to the track which slowed the times up a bit.
Jolly Bullseye had his first trial since the Arc final and went OK. He stumbled out the boxes but showed his early pace and flew down the back before really tiring coming home but he desperately needed this run and will come forward for the blowout.
Onto Swindon where we had a record night for the kennel as we sent out 5 open race winners.
Airport Captain got the night off to a great start as he won on debut for the kennel in his 509m maiden. Captain broke well and led all the way to win in a good 30.06 and looks a lovely prospect.
Gemstone Billy got his first open win as he ran a brilliant race to come from a long way off the pace to lead near the line in his 685m maiden.
Slippery Patch continued his excellent form as he pinged the lids and led all the way in his 509m open to win in 30.06. Hiding Escort ran well to finish second to Patch and won't be long in winning.
Portavoe Lass won her first race since returning from injury as she ran on strongly to nab kennel mate Droopys Harper on the run in in their 685m contest.
Newinn Daddy completed a great night for the kennel as he pinged the lids and led all the way to win the standard open by over 3 lengths in a good 28.74.
Thursday 23rd
Another good night as we managed 2 winners from our 4 runners at Hove this evening.
Tibetan Skies continued his good form as he ran probably his best for us as he won the standard 515m open in great style. Skies fell out the boxes but managed to get round the first bend with a clear run and he took off down the back straight to take the lead at the 3rd bend before going on to win well in 29.67.
Taranis Diva got her first open win as she battled hard to win her 515 maiden. Diva pinged the lids to record a good 4.09 sectional but got tapped for a little bit of middle pace before staying on strongly to beat kennel mate, Ring The Alarm, by 1 1/4 lengths in a good 30.08. Considering this was only Diva's 4th race of her life it was a great effort and she's another lovely prospect for the kennel. Ring The Alarm is well worthy of a mention as she ran a blinder behind Diva and will surely pick a maiden race up sooner rather than later.
Portavoe Girl got a little lost on her first visit here but will find plenty for that run and will head back to Hove next week.
Friday 24th
Just the one winner today but we had a couple of promising performances as well.
Sligo Mick just got the better of kennel mate Razor Titantic to win the A2 by a head in 29.34.
Kingsmill Anois ran with real promise to finish 3rd in the A1 on his debut and will surely be better for that experience.
Saturday 25th
Chow For Now went well in his first four bend trial as he led to near the line to record 29.27.
No winners from this evening's meeting but Gemstone Annie, Inishmore Impact and Allen Buttercup all ran well in defeat.

Monday, 20 May 2013

Week Ending 19th May
Tuesday 14th
10 dogs were sent to trials at Swindon today and it was a fairly good session.
Portavoe Lass recorded 29.11 in her first four bend workout for a while.
Newinn Daddy completed his qualifying trials with a 28.91 effort. Winetavern Tadgh posted 29.27 as he returned from his tail operation.
Recent arrivals, Kingsmill Anois (29.24), Burgess Ali (29.65) and Allen Buttercup (29.55) all went nicely in their first four bend trials.
Swords Brett (16.54), Barnish Booth (16.50), Kingsmill Go (16.70) and Swords Messi (16.24) all went well in their sprints.
Wednesday 15th
An early start this morning to get to Wimbledon for the 9:30 kennelling to give a few dogs a look round. Screen Critic posted a flying 28.36 in his first look at the track. He broke very well and ran the track superbly. This was his first workout since the Arc final and should benefit from the run.
Taranis Rex beat Hamar Superstar by 2 lengths as he led all the way in 28.84. Rex ran the track well and this was his first trial since winning on Sky night at Swindon. Hamar Superstar ran very wide at the 2nd bend but showed good pace throughout and looks like being a lovely dog. He would have benefited well from this further experience.
Tibetan Skies posted 28.68 in his solo trial but will probably not be entered for the Derby.
Screen Critic, Taranis Rex and Jolly Bullseye will head to Wimbledon next Wednesday for a final look round before the Derby starts the following week.
We had a couple of winners from our 5 runners tonight at Swindon.
Chilli Spring got a much deserved win as she led all the way to win her A6 by 3 1/4 lengths in 29.58.
Black Beach just got up on the line to win a good quality A2 by a head in 29.09.
Friday 17th
3 winners from today's meetings at Swindon.
Panthers Legend produced a brilliant front running display as he absolutely smashed the lids (posted a flying 2.25 sectional!) on her way to a 4 lengths victory in a personal best 28.89.
Hey Diego returned to form as he pinged the lids to win a good quality A1 by 2 1/4 lengths in 28.73. Hiding Escort and Bellmore Woody both ran well in defeat in the same race.
Marathon bitch, Portavoe Girl, got her first UK win as she led on the run in to win her A3 by 3/4 of a length in 29.30. She'll be stepped up in trip now and will probably head to Hove for a maiden stayers.
Saturday 18th
Just the one winner this evening as Alarming Arti won a messy A3 race in 29.62. Hopefully he'll get a run over the 6 bends again soon.

Performance of the Week
Panthers Legend has to get the vote this week for her brilliant run in the A2. She's only had four races in this Country but has won 2 of them and looks to be a nice prospect. It'll take a good dog to lead her if she keeps her trapping boots on!

Monday, 13 May 2013

Dual Attachment!

We're very excited to announce that our kennel will now be dual attached with Coventry Stadium.
We've been consistently struggling to get runs for all of our dogs at Swindon in the A1's and it's planned that we will take around 15 of our top end dogs for grading at Coventry.
We don't have any problems at all with Swindon and will continue to supply a very healthy strength to them but we needed to act to give our owners and dogs a fair chance of regular races.
All being well we will begin trialling in dogs in the next couple of weeks.

Sunday, 12 May 2013

Week Ending 12th May
Monday 6th
Just the one winner to begin the week with as Bookies Girls pinged the lids and led all the way to win her A2 by over 3 lengths in 29.33.
Tuesday 7th
Another busy trial session with 14 dogs going to Swindon today.
Hamar Superstar completed his qualifying trials with a very good 28.78. He's posted another good 2.40 sectional and for such an inexperienced dog he's done very well so far. He'll more than likely head to Wimbledon for a trial next week for some further experience. Gemstone Meg was a further 7 lengths behind but still posted a good 29.34 as she returned from a long lay off.
Droopys Danneel, who's been resting for a month as she prepares for a tilt at the Irish Oaks, returned to the track today with a sizzling 28.42 solo spin. This was a great effort and she'll head to Shelbourne next week for a trial.
Although Newinn Daddy was a bit slowly into stride, he still led at the bend and showed great pace down the back on his way to posting a good 28.90. Airport Captain completed his qualifying as he ran on very strongly to be beaten just 3/4 of a length by Daddy.
Hey Diego, who was again overlooked for a run, was given a solo workout and went well to record 28.77.
Gurrane Rocket returned from injury with a 29.07 run while Scaffs Misty re joined the graded strength with a 29.99 effort.
Recent arrivals Burgess Ali (16.57), Kingsmill Anois (16.42) and Allen Buttercup (16.31) all delighted us with their first look at the track.
Portavoe Lass (16.70) and Der Lone Razor (16.71) both went well as they returned from lay offs.
Wednesday 8th
No luck today from our 4 runners as all our dogs got crowded in their races.
Thursday 9th
Tibetan Skies was our star performer of the night at Hove this evening as he pinged the lids and won a good quality open race in a canter. He stayed on strongly to win by 3 lengths in a fastest of year 29.50. He's available for sale at reasonable money as well and has plenty left to offer.
Taranis Diva ran a blinder in her 515m maiden bitches open to be beaten just over a length. She pinged the lids and it might have been a different story if she had been drawn in the red box as she was just held out at the bend but considering this was only the 3rd race of her life it was a tremendous effort. She's a lovely prospect.
Hiding Escort and Ring The Alarm both ran well in defeat.
Friday 10th
Just the one winner from today's meeting's at Swindon. Gemstone Billy ran a great race to collar kennel mate, Droopys Harper on the run in to win his S1 by 1 3/4 lengths in 41.82.
Saturday 11th
Mullingar Mer returned from her latest fall to lead virtually all the way in the A1. She showed her normal burst of early pace and hung on gamely to win by a head in 28.98. Southern Belle is one to put firmly in the note book as she finished 3rd in the same race. This was Belle's first ever race so to compete so well in top grade is a brilliant effort. Hopefully she'll have a bright future.
Hoots Mon beat Der Lone Razor by 6 lengths in 29.12 in a pre race trial.

Performance of the Week
Again we've had some really nice performances this week including Tibetan Skies, Mullingar Mer and Southern Belle but the vote goes to Gemstone Billy who won his first S1 race. Billy has come a long way since he first started off and none of us thought he'd be competing and winning top grade races. He came from a long way off the pace to beat kennel mate Droopys Harper and is a pleasure to have in the kennel.

In Other News
The first four Westmead Hawk x Superstar Lily pups arrived at the kennels this week and are fantastic looking animals. They've been very well handled and reared and certainly look the part. They'll begin their schooling very soon and the other four from the litter will join us in a month or so.

We've deals in place for 5 lovely young pups to join the kennel in the next week and they'll be offered for sale soon.

Keep checking the blog for some very exciting kennel news that'll be posted soon.

Wednesday, 8 May 2013

Week Ending 5th May
Monday 29th
A couple of winners to begin the week with. Razor Titanic continued his good form as he led nearly all the way in his A2 to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.30. Beatrice Maud made a winning come back from injury as she led all the way to win her A4 by 1 3/4 lengths in 29.42.
Tuesday 30th
A busy trial session today with 16 dogs going to Swindon.
Alarming Arti joined the 685m graded strength with his 42.30 effort.
Bellmore Woody (29.26) and Hoots Mon (29.54) both went well in their first 4 bend trials since injury. Keeperhill Hawk re joined the strength with a 29.59. Recent arrivals, Hamar Superstar (29.24) and Airport Captain (28.94) both looked nice types in their first 4 bend trials. Portavoe Girl joined the strength with her 29.61 effort while Hey Diego moved well in his 480m solo to record 28.73.
Stanton Ollie (16.69) and Mullingar Mer (16.28) both looked in good form as they returned from being knocked over last time out.
Gemstone Meg (16.75), Gemstone Annie (16.58), Scaffs Misty (16.63), Alarming Alan (16.59) and Gurrane Rocket (16.28) all began their come backs as well.
The day was marred though by an injury to Kilmalady Biffo. He ruptured a gracilis muscle and is now retired.
Wednesday 1st
Quite a way to begin the new month as we had 2 winners live on Sky and a runner up in the Arc final.
Droopys Harper sprang a big surprise in the 685m open as he led all the way to win by 1/2 a length in 42.01. Ding Hero was sent off a short priced favourite for the race but got the break all wrong and was badly crowded at the bend so it was left to Harper to lead the challenge. He hung on gamely at the end to record a great win. This was his first open win so to come on a Sky night at our home track was brilliant. Ding suffered a nasty split web in the race and faces around a month on the sidelines.
Kennel legend Taranis Rex pinged the lids to overcome a tricky draw and led all the way to win the 480m open in great style. Rex won by 1 1/4 lengths in 28.64. He'll have a short rest before heading to Wimbledon for a trial.
Screen Critic ran his heart out for us in the Arc final and went down by just a length to the top class Shaneboy Alley, who broke the track record in the process. Batman pinged the lids but didn't quite have the pace to make the corner in front and was cut off by Alley who quickly went 4 or 5 lengths clear but he's made good progress coming home and was closing the gap all the time but the line came to quickly for us. This was a great run by our dog though and has posted a calculated 28.36 in only his 3rd UK start. He'll head to Wimbledon next for a trial before having a crack at the Derby but I think he may be more suited to the Irish version which is firmly on his agenda.
Our other finalist, Jolly Bullseye, didn't get any luck at all in the race as he was crowded out the boxes and all the way to the first bend by the middle running Longwood Bound. He took a nasty whack on the bend and could never get in to contention. Bullseye returned with a bruised toe and a slightly strained hip and will be given as long as possible on the treatment table before heading to Wimbledon.
Thursday 2nd
No luck at all this evening at Hove. Crinkill Jewel looked in a good position coming off the 2nd bend in the 1st round of the Regency but quickly went backwards and returned with a shoulder injury and faces around 6 weeks off the track.
Tibetan Skies and Ring The Alarm both ran well in defeat while Taranis Diva moved well to record 30.19 in a trial.
Friday 3rd
4 winners at Swindon today. Motor Home got another win under her belt as she won her A3. Moody Mare returned from injury to win first time up as she led all the way in her A4.
Youngster, Panthers Legend, showed that she had learnt plenty from last week's defeat as she won a good quality A2 by 1/2 a length in 29.29.
Glenbane Air got a much deserved win as he led all the way to win his A2 in 28.99.
Saturday 4th
Off The Radar made it 2 wins from 3 starts as he led near the line to win his A3 in 29.35. He'll have his 100th race next time out and has been a great little dog.
Kelseys Prince was the latest dog to be injured this week as he suffered a gracilis injury. It doesn't look career threatening but will need around 3 months off.
Youngster, Southern Belle, completed her qualifying trials as she posted 28.90 and looks a terrific prospect.

Performance of the Week
We've had some cracking efforts this week, especially from Taranis Rex and Screen Critic but the vote has to go to Droopys Harper who gave everything he had to win his Sky open. It was a fantastic win and great reward for his very good and patient owners.

Spotlight on: Kilmalady Biffo
After being retired this week due to his gracilis injury I thought I'd give a quick summary of his career with us. Biffo began his racing with a victory in A4 company. This was quickly followed up by an A3 win but he really started to take the eye when he rattled off a four timer. He won 2 A2's before flying the lids to lead all the way in an A1 so we gave him a sprint at Hove which he led all the way in. He went on to win 12 opens in total and made the finals of the Oxfordshire Gold Cup and Oxfordshire Trophy. In all he won 19 of his 57 races, not bad for a dog that cost 300 Euros! The best news is that Biffo has already found a wonderful home in Devizes with a lovely family. He's having the snip in the next week or so before beginning his new life towards the end of May. We'll certainly miss this lad.

Tuesday, 30 April 2013

Week Ending 28th April
Tuesday 23rd
For the first time in a couple of years we had runners at Sheffield with 3 dogs in the heats of the 3 Steps To Victory competition.
Tibetan Skies ran his best race for a while as he just missed out on a qualifying spot. He was crowded straight out the boxes and at the bend but did a huge amount of running coming home and was the fastest non qualifier of all the heats.
Ding Hero and Hiding Escort were both out of luck in their heat as they both met plenty of trouble.
With no trial session at Swindon this morning, the gallop was put to good use with 16 dogs put through their paces. Gurrane Rocket and Portavoe Lass went well as they begin their comebacks from injury.
Wednesday 24th
An early morning start as we met the transporter at 4am with 4 new recruits. They're a lovely bunch of youngsters and will be great additions to the kennel.
A further 15 dogs were sent up the gallop today with Hamar Superstar and Kilmalady Biffo going particularly well.
No luck at Swindon tonight from our 5 runners as once again most of them were badly crowded. Stanton Ovation got knocked over on the third bend but thankfully seems none the worse for the fall.
Thursday 25th
Southern Angel got a much deserved win in her 515m maiden open. Angel battled really hard to get up on the line after being crowded on the run in. She's been keeping very good company since arriving from Ireland and should continue to improve.
Friday 26th
A terrific afternoon for the kennel as we managed to qualify Jolly Bullseye and Screen Critic for the Arc final. Bullseye didn't break in his best fashion but flew to the bend and took off down the back straight, he looked to have the race sewn up off the last bend until Longwood Warrior came out of the clouds to challenge him close home. Warrior didn't get on with the job but thankfully didn't fight our fella so we safely made it through.
Screen Critic had every chance in his heat but couldn't live with the all round pace of Shaneboy Alley and we were beaten just over 2 lengths. It's a terrific achievement from Batman to make a Cat 1 final in only his 3rd race over here and he should improve for the run again.
We had a couple of winners at the evening meeting. Taranis Diva made a very impressive winning debut as she led coming home to win her A2 by 2 3/4 lengths in a very smart 28.81. Diva has only had the 1 race in Ireland and that was back in December so this was a great effort. She'll head to Hove next week for a trial.
Glendine Girl ran a stormer as she led all the way in her A5 to win by 1/2 a length in 28.79.
Saturday 27th
The dogs in general ran very well this evening as we came away with 3 winners.
Redlion Enfield got her first win for the kennel as she led pretty much all the way to win her A6 by a Neck in a personal best 29.53.
Jolly Be Good also won her first race for us as she ran a very strong race to win a good quality A2 by 3 lengths in a fast 28.74. She looks a nice little prospect.
Smoothoppa Razor completed the night's work with an impressive win in her A2. Opera led at the halfway stage and stayed on well to win by 3 1/2 lengths in 28.85.

Performance of the Week
There's been some good performances this week to choose from with Jolly Be Good and Smoothoppa Razor both impressing but the award goes to Taranis Diva with her excellent A2 debut win. It's very tough for a novice to go straight into good A2 company and do the business and she did it in style. She'll improve nicely for that run and she'll be an interesting runner to follow.

Monday, 22 April 2013

Week Ending 21st April
Tuesday 16th
Another busy trial session with 12 dogs going today.
Hiding Escort posted a fastest of the session 28.66 in his first 4 bend trial since returning from injury. He'll head to Sheffield next week for the 3 Steps To Victory competition. He'll be joined by Ding Hero who posted 29.00 in a solo today and also Tibetan Skies.
Chilli Hot Sauce (29.07), Panthers Legend (29.17), Moody Mare (29.56) and Portavoe Girl (29.23) all went very well in their trials.
Hamar Superstar impressed in his first look at Swindon with a fastest of the day 16.36. He's only had a couple of races in Ireland and has won in 28.91 Shelbourne so he's an interesting prospect.
Youngster, Southern Belle, also impressed with her first look as she posted a 16.57.
Bellmore Woody delighted us with his 16.41 as he starts his comeback from having a toe removed. Woody hasn't raced since the maiden derby final at Henlow and he'll be a good addition to the strength when he returns.
Hoots Mon continued his come back with a 16.40, Billyboy returned to the strength after being knocked over with a 16.98 and recent arrival Airport Captain moved well to post 16.52.
Wednesday 17th
No winners from tonight's meeting as a few of the dogs ran poorly. Lady Maud came closest as she was just picked up on the line.
Thursday 18th
No luck at Hove as we returned with 3 runner up medals.
Southern Angel ran well in defeat again in her 515m maiden and will return again next week.
Gemstone Billy ran a very good race in his maiden stayers and will be given another chance next week.
Crinkill Jewel looked a likely winner as she pinged the lids and led in her 695m race but was just tapped for pace in the middle part of the race, she stayed on strongly though but just failed to get up on the line. She'll head back there next week before being given her chance in the Regency.
Friday 19th
It was the first round of the Arc this afternoon and thankfully the dogs were in great form as we qualified 4 of our 5 runners and managed 3 heat winners.
Screen Critic got the competition off to a great start for us as he made his UK debut a winning one. Batman broke well but had to battle very hard to get the better of Farloe Iceman on the third bend before staying on well to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.67.
Jolly Bullseye made it four wins on the trot and 7 from 12 UK starts as he bravely led at the first bend and went on to win his heat by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.77. It wasn't a flashy run by the lad but it was a good starting point and he should improve a bit next week. Gemstone Jack qualified in third place behind Jolly after running a brilliant race. Jack was crowded on the first and baulked on the 2nd and was left in a hopeless looking position but Jack really dug deep and fairly flew home off the last bend to safely make it through. Jack will always be difficult to keep out of the frame and will take full advantage of any crowding up front in his semi final next week.
Slippery Patch completed the day with a great victory in his heat. Patch ran a brave and clever race as he moved to the outside to pass dog around the 3rd and 4th bends before going on to win by 3/4 of a length in 28.84. Taranis Rex had a horrible draw in trap 5 in the same race and was badly crowded on the bend after a slow start. He returned safe and sound though and will hopefully have a race on Arc finals night.
We managed a couple of winners at the evening meeting as well.
Billyboy ran a very good race to win his A7 by just over a length in 29.88 and showed no ill effects from his tumble at the 3rd bend in his last race.
Express Fantasy ran her best race for a while as she pinged the lids and led all the way in her A2. She won by 2 1/4 lengths in 28.87.
Saturday 20th
Just the one winner as Off The Radar ran a really gutsy race to come from off the pace to lead on the run in to win his A3 by a neck in 29.44.

Performance of the week
There's not been too many to choose from this week so it's been a fairly easy choice. Screen Critic gets the vote for his Arc heat win. It's very difficult to go straight in to open class company first time up in this Country and win, let alone the heats of a category 1 competition so this was a great effort. It was his first race since February so he should improve for the run. Win, lose or draw in the Arc, he'll head to Wimbledon for the Derby as I think the track will suit him.

Sunday, 14 April 2013

Week Ending 14th April
Tuesday 9th
A very good trial day with all 11 dogs going well.
Screen Critic completed his UK qualifying with a fastest of the session 28.47. Batman broke well and showed a lovely turn of early to lead all the way to beat kennel mate, Stanton Apollo, by 4 3/4 lengths. He tired coming home but this was his first 4 bend workout since the Unraced final in February so he's entitled to have needed the run. Apollo (28.85) and Taranis Diva (29.08) both went very well in the same trial.
Beatrice Maud (29.49) returned from injury with a good effort and Ding Hero was given his first workout since winning the Romford final and pleased us with a 28.82 solo spin. He's heading to Sheffield for the 3 Steps to Victory competition.
Hiding Escort was given his first trial since finishing lame at Romford in November and flew round in 16.33. Hoots Mon posted 16.44 as he returned from finishing lame in the Perry Barr Bags Championship in December.
Phanters Legend (16.45) and Moody Mare (16.67) also returned from lameness with good trials while new recruit, Portavoe Girl, posted 16.68 in her solo.
Wednesday 10th
Jolly Bullseye saved the day at Swindon as it really didn't look like being our night with most of our Arc trial stake runners getting no luck at all.
Gemstone Jack could never get in to full stride as he was constantly hampered in his race. He stayed on well to finish 3rd when he eventually got some room to run and we'll take our chance and enter him for the Arc.
Hey Diego was very badly crowded on the bend as he went from a likely winner to last place. He stayed on well though to finish 3rd.
Taranis Rex ran his heart out for us again but was just denied on the line. Rex showed his customary burst of early to lead at the bend but the torrential downpour of rain had taken it's toll on the track and he tired coming home to be beaten half a length. Rex will be taking his chance in the Arc and with good ground he'd have a fair shout of progressing through the comp.
Slippery Patch and Tibetan Skies came together at the bend in their heat and were both left with an awful lot of ground to make up. Patch stayed on gamely though to take 2nd place with Tibetan running on well to snatch 3rd.
So it was left to kennel star Jolly Bullseye to get us out of trouble and he did it in great style. He didn't break in his best fashion but showed his fantastic early pace and really drove the first bend to take the lead. He went a couple of lengths clear of the strong running Droopys Reason and I thought we may be in trouble with the poor track conditions but he stayed on strongly to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 28.53. He'll improve nicely for that run and will now take his chance in the Arc before heading to Wimbledon for the Derby.
Youngster, Stanton Ovation, continued his recent improvement to take the A5 by 1 length in 29.64.
Friday 12th
A poor day with no winners from our 12 runners. Off The Radar and Swarez ran with credit while Gemstone Annie was desperate in the A1. It's been a frustrating week again at Swindon with some 16 runners not getting a run, including many of our top A1 and A2 dogs.
Saturday 13th
2 winners from our 6 runners this evening.
Gemstone Billy took full advantage of the slow going to win his A3 by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.17.
Motor Home got her first win since returning from injury as she led off the 3rd bend to win her A3 by 2 3/4 lengths in 29.34. Mollie has been a fantastic bitch for us and it was great to see her get this win.

Performance of the week
Not too many to chose from this week but the award has to go to Jolly Bullseye who won a very good quality Arc trial stake on poor ground. It was a classy and brave performance and fingers crossed he can keep up his good form throughout the Arc.

Monday, 8 April 2013

Week Ending 7th April
Tuesday 2nd
A fairly quiet trial session with just 6 dogs going through their paces.
Jolly Bullseye was given his first look at Swindon since his early qualifying trials and went well enough to record 28.80. He stumbled slightly from the boxes and tired coming home but he's not done much since Wimbledon and they dug the track up in the morning so this trial was ok. He'll certainly improve for the blowout and will run in a trial stakes next week before a final decision is made as to if he runs in the Arc or goes straight for the Derby.
Redlion Enfield joined the graded strength with her 29.67 spin.
Stanton Apollo looked back to his best as he beat Nickys Love by 7 lengths in a very good 28.82. He flew down the back and this time stood up very well on the day, I think he's sure to pinch an open or two this year and will probably head back to Hove in the near future. Nicky's Love still looks green around dogs but will be given a race now and we'll see how she goes. Taranis Diva was a further 1/2 length behind Nicky's and will have her final qualifying trial next week.
Screen Critic again looked like a very classy prospect as he won his 3 dog sprint trial by 5 lengths in a very good 16.12. Batman was given plenty of time to settle in as he needed some building up but he's starting to fill his large frame now and is in good form. It's possible he'll have a 4 bend trial at Swindon next week to complete his qualifying or he may head to Coventry for a trial over the new 450m distance.
Wednesday 3rd
Taranis Rex was the star of the show tonight as he pinged the lids and led all the way in his Arc trial stake. He won by 1 1/4 lengths in a fastest of the night 28.52. Despite being beaten in his first couple of races this year we've been bringing Rex along slowly with the Arc as the target and he'll be in good shape for the start of the competition. He'll run in another trial stake next week.
Sligo Mick continued his good recent form as he led virtually all the way to win his A2 by 1/2 length in 29.25.
Thursday 4th
A good night at Hove with 2 winners from our 5 runners.
Droopys Danneel made it 7 wins from 9 starts since joining the kennel as she made it a hat trick of wins at Hove. Danni was made to work very hard in the race but was very game to lead on the run in and win by 3/4 of a length in 29.94. We've decided that she'll miss the Swindon Arc and be kept to bitches only races with her main target being the Shelbourne Oaks that begins in May.
Slippery Patch overcame a tricky draw in trap 5 as he pinged the lids and led all the way in his 515m open. Patch has been running at the top of his game of late having won 4 of his last 7 races. He won by 6 1/4 lengths in a personal best 29.74 and will be taking his chance in the Arc.
Friday 5th
2 winners from today's Swindon meetings. Razor Titanic made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts as led all the way to beat kennel mate, Bookies Girls, by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.21.
Kelseys Prince ran a blinder to win his A1 by 1 length in 28.89. It was a race pretty much dominated by our 3 representatives as Mullingar Mer showed huge early to take the lead off Rainham Chris but Chris flew down the back to take a 3 length lead at the 3rd bend but Prince was really starting to motor home and collared Chris close home.
Saturday 6th
2 winners from our 7 runners this evening. Zamboni Zazzle was soon back to winning ways as she led at the halfway point to win her A7 by 2 1/2 lengths in 30.07.
Inishmore Impact just held off the late challenge of kennel mate, Black Beach, to win their A2 by a head in a fastest of the night 29.03.
Sunday 7th
No luck at Coventry tonight with our 2 runners. Hey Diego missed the break and was crowded out of the 2nd bend in his 4 bend open. Crinkill Jewel looked to have done all the hard work as she worked her way to the front at the 3rd bend in her stayers open but faded a touch coming home to finish 3rd. The track was very hard this evening which possibly didn't suit her but chances are she'll enjoy a week off next week.

Performance of the week
Taranis Rex gets the vote this week as he bounced back to form when winning a
trial stake of the Arc in 28.52.

Monday, 1 April 2013

Week Ending 31st March
Tuesday 26th
11 dogs were sent to trials today and on the whole it was a pretty good session.
Nickys Love was given a confidence boosting solo spin after a couple of very troublesome early races and she delighted us with her 29.02 effort. Poppy has the ability to be very good but is still very novicey and will be given a mixed trial next week for some further experience.
Motor Home (29.36), Professor Deejay (29.54) and Zamboni Zazzle (30.31) all went well on their return from injury.
Chilli Spring pleased us with 29.80 trial win as she returned from cramping last time out. Recent intake, Redlion Enfield recorded 30.02 while Billyboy returned from his bout of the cough with a 30.34.
Taranis Diva hugged the rail as she posted 16.73, Stanton John was a further 14 lengths behind her though and faces a spell on the sidelines as he returned lame.
Stanton Apollo continued his excellent comeback from injury as he stopped the clock at 16.33. He'll be stepped up to four bends next week.
Screen Critic impressed in his first trial for the kennel as he pinged the lids and posted a fastest of the day 16.29.
Wednesday 27th
3 winners this evening from our 9 runners.
Lady Maud got her first win since returning from injury as she flew the lids and led all the way to win her A3 by 2 1/4 lengths in 29.47.
Glendine Girl led off the last bend as she continued her good recent form by winning her A5 by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.60.
Wagama completed the night's work as she flew the lids to lead all the way in her A4. She posted a very good 2.36 sectional and won by 6 lengths in a personal best 29.26.
Thursday 28th
Droopys Danneel made it 6 wins from 8 starts since joining the kennel as she ran a super race at Hove tonight. Danni pinged the lids and turned 2nd but quickly took up the running and went on to win by 4 3/4 lengths in 29.84.
Slippery Patch and Southern Angel both ran really well in their respective opens and will both likely head back there next week.
Friday 29th
Today we went to Monmore for the finals of the Eggstravaganza series and we had a great day with 2 winners from our 4 runners.
Gemstone Annie ran a blinder in the first of the bitches finals. Annie broke really well and managed to hold her pitch in to the bend and turned in a handy position entering the back straight. She always looked the likely winner and managed to get up on the run in to win by 1 length in 28.86.
Alarming Jacks was up next in the other bitches final and was very much expected to win judging by her 4's on starting price! Jacks missed the kick a mile though but showed huge early to lead at the bend and went on by a couple of lengths. She railed superbly off the last to win by 1 3/4 lengths in 28.74 and collect the £1000 prize.
Droopys Harper couldn't get a run at the right time in his 630m final as he was crowded all the way around the 5th bend. Harper still ran on well off the last bend to finish a good 3rd and pick up some valuable points.
Black Beach was a little outclassed in his Dogs final and could never quite make an impression but did ever so well to make the finals day.
Saturday 30th
Another good night at Swindon as we came away with 3 winners.
Ring The Alarm led on the run in to win a good quality A2 by 3/4 length in 28.77. Suzie has been running really well of late against good class and deserved this win.
Rainham Chris made it 2 wins from his 4 races this year as he came away very well for an all the way success in the A1. Chris did well to hold off Forest Bonjo when he turned so close to us and this was a good performance. He won in 28.90.
Active Lark pinged out and led all the way to win her A2 by 1 length in 29.22. Bookies Girls ran a very good race to finish 3rd.
Sunday 31st
We were lucky enough to have 5 runners on a quite superb Coventry card this evening.
Crinkill Jewel took on the Mark Wallis trained Sidaz Dippy in a 2 dog match race over the 672m trip with the winner taking home a very good first prize of £500. It turned out to be a fantastic buckle with Crinks just getting the better of Dippy on the line. There was a great atmosphere for the race and a surprising amount of betting taking place too. Coventry are really doing everything right and put on a fantastic nights racing that was thoroughly enjoyable. There was a very good crowd full of racing people and the class of dog was very good. Plenty of tracks that just go through the motions every night could learn a lot from what they are trying to do there.
Hey Diego ran a very good race in his division of the 485m standard and would have gone close with a run. Swords Messi showed a lovely turn of early to lead up in his race and led until the run in before being passed. He never runs a bad race this lad and will head to Swindon next for an Arc trial stake.

Performance of the week
The first winner of the Performance of the week goes to Wagama for her 6 lengths demolition of the A4. This novice puppy had been hiked 2 grades for her A6 win and was really impressive as she flew the lids to make all.

March Bitch of the month
Alarming Jacks is the standout bitch performer of the month as she was unbeaten in her 4 races.
Jacks won two A1's in 28.84 and a flying 28.34 before winning her Egg qualifier by 5 3/4 lengths in 28.67 before going on to Monmore to win her Egg final. A brilliant month from a wonderful bitch.

March Dog of the month
We've had some very good performers through the month including Ding Hero winning the Stayers final at Romford and Jolly Bullseye's top class Wimbledon performance but the dog of the month goes to Gemstone Jack who's been in great form winning 2 of his 3 races. He's won his last two opens at Hove in 29.92 and 29.94. He's having a short rest before being aimed at the Swindon Arc.

Sunday, 24 March 2013

Week Ending 24th March
Monday 17th
Just the one runner for the kennel today.
Ding Hero ran a very good race and was only just beaten on the line in his heat of a 575m competition. The going was quite poor and certainly favoured the outside dogs so I was just pleased to qualify for Friday's final. Unfortunately we've drawn trap 1 again which is a poor box to break from at Romford but we'll go close given a run.
Tuesday 18th
A busy trial session with 8 dogs going today.
Rainham Chris moved well to record a 28.93 and would have needed this blowout.
Professor Deejay posted a decent 16.70 as he returned from a set of niggling injuries.
Stanton Apollo recorded a fastest of the day 16.24 as he beat Motor Home by 5 lengths. Apollo has had a few little problems and a decent break would have done him the world of good. All being well he'll have a good year.
Zamboni Zazzle (16.89), Redlion Enfield (17.38), Taranis Diva (16.71) and Stanton John (17.17) all went well enough in their solo's.
On to Wimbledon for the return of the Sky cameras where we had 2 runners.
Forest Mollie was out of luck in her bitches event as she was crowded on the bend.
Jolly Bullseye lined up in a good quality 480m open and stole the show with a sensational burst of early pace that put him in pole position going in to the corner and he really stretched the field out down the back to come home 4 1/4 lengths to the good in 28.65.
This was a superb run by Jolly and he's now joint 9th favourite for the English Derby. It was a great buzz to finally land our first Sky winner and hopefully it won't be too long before we get another. Jolly will now have a very short break before being prepared for the Swindon Arc.
Wednesday 19th
Another fantastic night at Swindon with 4 winners from our 12 runners.
Wagama got the ball rolling as she won for the first time. She broke well and recorded a useful 2.40 sectional on the way to a 2 1/4 length victory in a personal best 29.43. She's still very inexperienced and will continue to improve.
Mullingar Mer made it 4 wins from 5 since returning to graded action as she led up kennel mate Inishmore Impact before going on to score by 1 length in 28.98. The drop back to graded racing has certainly done the trick with her and she now has her confidence back after that horrible fall at Coventry.
Witcombe Lady got a much deserved win in her A4 as she pinged the lids to lead all the way. She won by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.42.
Sligo Mick completed the night's work as he led off the 2nd bend to win his A2 by 1 length in 29.03.
Thursday 20th
Gemstone Jack continued his excellent Hove form tonight as he made it 3 wins from his last 3 visits to the seaside. Jack paced up well and turned in to the back straight in a handy pitch and soon hit the font going in to the third bend. He went on to score by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.94.
Tibetan Skies and Gurrane Rocket were both out of luck in their opens.
Friday 21st
Ding Hero was again the kennel star as he won the final of the Romford 575m competition. Ding broke well and ran a brave 1st bend to turn 2nd. He quickly took up the running coming out of the 2nd bend and went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 35.54. He's been in great form this year and has won 4 of his 8 races since returning to training and has now won 15 opens for the kennel.
No luck at Swindon but Alarming Arti, Southern Angel and Taranis Rex all ran well in defeat.
Saturday 22nd
Firstly to Monmore where we had our 'Egg' team in trial action before racing.
Alarming Jacks posted a very good 28.61 as she was quickly into stride in her solo spin. Jacks was glued to the rail all the way round and it's a massive bonus to have drawn red in the race next week.
Black Beach also ran the track very well as he posted 28.93.
Gemstone Annie posted 29.15 while Droopys Harper recorded a good 38.63 over the 630m trip. We're all really looking forward to finals day and it would be great to come away with a winner.
On to Swindon where we had one winner. Kelseys Prince led off the last bend to win his A1 in 28.79.

In Other News...
The investment we've made into a new quad bike and an eight foot set of chain harrows is really paying dividends as the gallop is in perfect condition. It's really made light work of the maintenance and I couldn't be happier with it. It really is fit for a derby dog.
Work begins next week on a new set of 3 paddocks for the dogs and they should be ready to use in the next couple of weeks.

Wednesday, 20 March 2013

Week Ending 17th March
Monday 11th
A poor start to the week as our 3 runners were totally out of luck at Monmore.
Tibetan Skies and Ding Hero continually got in each others way as they both got knocked out of the Spring Festival stayers. Im not convinced the track or trip really suited Tibetan and he's likely to head back to Hove next week. Ding will head to Romford for a 575m comp.
Forest Mollie made up an awful lot of ground up after being badly crowded at the first bend but was left with too much to do and also went out. She'll head to Wimbledon next for a Sky bitches race.
Thursday 14th
Gemstone Jack continued his excellent form as he won again at Hove tonight. Jack broke well and made it round the bend without too much trouble and always looked in with a great chance entering the back straight. He was made to work hard by Sharies Miller but got up on the line to win in 29.92.
Slippery Patch had every chance in his open but ran well enough again to finish 3rd.
Southern Angel again impressed as she finished 2nd in the 515 open. She desperately needs trap 6 and was crowded all the way to the bend but stuck to her guns well and came home strongly to finish 2nd. It's very early days with Angel and I think she'll have a really good year when she has some more condition and experience on her side. She'll return to the Hove again next week.
Friday 15th
A quite brilliant Bags meeting for us as we managed 6 winners from our 12 runners including 4 winners in the Bags Eggstravaganza.
Alarming Jacks got the day off to a great start as she was quickly into stride to lead all the way in her bitches heat. She powered home on the rail to beat kennel mate, Ring The Alarm, by nearly 6 lengths in 28.67. Jack's has now won 4 of her last 5 races and is a lovely bitch to have in the kennel. Monmore should suit this girl well as she's a lovely turn of early and is one of the best railers I've ever had.
Gemstone Annie ran a great race to beat kennel mate, Swarez, by 3/4 of a length in 29.16 to take the other heat of the bitches race. Annie ran a lovely first bend and always looked dangerous entering the back straight and once she took the lead up it was going to take a massive run to beat her. Swarez ran a terrific race in defeat and did well to close the gap at the line and is going in the right direction.
Black Beach's task in the Dogs division was made an awful lot easier with the withdrawal of Erics Gav but he took his chance really well as he led around the first bend to go on to win by 3 lengths in 28.88. He's a pacey dog when everything goes his way and it'll be interesting to see how he handles Monmore.
Droopys Harper completed the Eggstravaganza four-timer as he led off the 2nd bend to win the first stayers division in great style. Harper stayed the trip well in this class and went on to win very nicely by over 5 lengths in 41.53. The 630m Monmore trip should be ideal for this lad.
Chilli Hot Sauce was out of luck in the sprint division. Despite a good start she never really looked to be travelling on the soft ground and was soundly beaten by the impressive Forest Bracken. It was a bit baffling why she wasn't given a race for 2 weeks before this competition and we did intend to give her a spin on Tuesday but they lost the trial session due to frost.
Gemstone Billy probably broke too well in his stayer's heat and was badly crowded on the bend. He's run well to stay on for 2nd but he just had too much to make up.
On the graded front, Mullingar Mer completed a hat-trick of A2 wins as she showed some lovely pace to lead at the first bend. She stretched right away before tiring a bit coming home. She beat kennel mate, Keeperhill Hawk, by 3 lengths in 28.91.
Razor Titantic ran the perfect race as he pinged the lids and led all the way to win his A2 by 3 lengths in 29.20.
We didn't manage a winner at the evening meeting but we had a couple of good performances.
Taranis Rex ran his heart out on bad ground but was just beaten on the line by a very short head in the A1. He would have badly needed this run and it's good to get a race under his belt as he begins his build up to the Arc.
Wagama ran a much improved race from her debut last week and led until just before the line. This would have done her the world of good and I'm sure she won't be long in winning.
Saturday 16th
2 winners this evening from our 5 runners.
Glenbane Air got a much deserved win in his A2 as he was quickly in to stride to beat kennel mate, Winetavern Tadgh by 3 lengths in 29.08. Barney has only been given 2 races in around 5 weeks and should improve for the run. Tadgh also ran well on poor ground and is another dog that's really been struggling for runs of late, he'd waited nearly 3 1/2 weeks for a race which really isn't good enough.
Youngster, Stanton Ovation, ran his best race to date as he led on the run up before stretching clear down the back straight. He's getting stronger all the time now and came home 1 3/4 lengths to the good in a personal best 29.48.
Jolly Be Good completed her qualifying trials as she beat kennel mate Scaffs Misty by 14 1/2 lengths in 29.07. Misty would have badly needed this run and her 30.23 effort was quite pleasing.
Sunday 17th
No luck this evening at Coventry from our 6 runners with our main hopes, Crinkill Jewell and Kilmalady Biffo, both suffering plenty of trouble.

Friday, 15 March 2013

Week Ending 10th March
Tuesday 5th
A fairly good trial session for the kennel with most of the dogs going well enough although the times didn't stack up to the previous week at all which makes the going assessment from last week questionable.
Taranis Rex led kennel mate Hey Diego all the way to win by just over 2 lengths in 28.78.
Jolly Be Good (29.30), Lady Maud (29.83) and Lord Sugar (29.04) all went nicely.
Scaffs Misty (17.17), and Kilmalady Biffo (16.35) both went OK in their trials while new recruit, Taranis Diva impressed with her 16.69 with her first workout for a few months.
Wednesday 6th
Just the one winner this evening as Keeperhill Hawk kept up his good recent form as he flew the lids and led all the way to win in 29.06.
Thursday 7th
A great night down at Hove as we managed 2 winners from our 2 runners.
Slippery Patch continued his excellent form with another win in the 515 standard. Patch held his pitch well at the corner but was forced to check off the 2nd bend but really stuck to his task and led coming home to beat Bridge Bandit by just over a length in 30.02.
Droopys Danneel made it 5 wins from 7 races since joining the kennel as she ran another game race in the bitches 515 open. Danni stumbled slightly from the boxes and took a nasty whack on the bend but rode it well and always looked the likely winner as she turned 3rd going in to the back straight. She led at the 3rd turn to win well by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.90.
Southern Angel trialled very well before racing to record 30.22. Angel broke well and tired slightly coming home but it's early days with her yet and she has a bright future.
Friday 8th
2 winners from today's meetings at Swindon. Alarming Arti got his first win for the kennel as he ran a great first bend and led going in to the 3rd bend to win in style by over 5 lengths in a personal best 28.90.
Inishmore Impact just made the corner in front and ran right away with his A2 to win by over 6 lengths in 28.88.
Saturday 9th
Swords Messi ran a very brave race to win his open race at Coventry this morning. He showed lovely early and threw himself round the bend to stretch clear down the back and held on at the line.
Kilmalady Biffo ran a blinder on his return as he went down by the narrowest of margins in the sprint.
Saleen Tompajoe badly injured a shoulder in his hurdle race and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
A couple of winners from this evening's meeting at Swindon.
Alarming Jacks continued her brilliant run of form as she turned a good A1 into a procession as she won by over 4 lengths in a very fast 28.34. Southern Angel ran a hugely promising race on debut for the kennel to finish 2nd.
Hey Diego gave the kennel another 1-2 in the A1 as he beat Kelseys Prince by 3 lengths in 28.60. Diego has now won 2 of his 3 races since returning from a winter rest and should continue to improve. Kelseys Prince has not been given enough runs lately at Swindon and it's likely he'll have to go back on the open race scene.
Jolly Bullseye again showed his liking for Wimbledon as he moved well to record 28.55 in a pre race trial.
