Week Ending 4th November

Monday 29th
No luck today from our 8 runners. Moody Mare and Off The Radar both ran well in defeat though.
Tuesday 30th
Express Fantasy (29.31), Vevas Tiger (29.45), Scaffs Misty (29.87), Swords Messi (28.98) and Beatrice Maud (29.68) all went well in their 4 bend workouts.
Hoots Mon returned from having his tonsils out with a decent 16.40 trial win. He beat Ballyhill Power (16.50) and Lady Jaro (16.66).
Gemstone Meg pleased us with her 16.61 solo after returning from lameness. Meg has been off the track for a long time now but has lots of potential and she should make a nice bitch with some consistent running.
Novices, Zamboni Zazzle (17.46) and Zamboni Zohan (19.65) completed the trial day.
Wednesday 31st
Just the 4 runners this evening but no luck. Der Lone Razor ran well again in defeat.
Thursday 1st
Taranis Rex qualified for the semi finals of the Laurels at Belle Vue tonight when finishing 3rd in his heat. Rex got crowded early on but showed good pace down the back before tiring slightly on the run home. It was a slow and boggy track which wouldn't have suited so he's run well. We've quite a nice draw in the semi's and it would be brilliant to make the final of such a prestigious competition.
Friday 2nd
The Bags Track Championship returned today with our home leg against Poole and Oxford and it proved a very good day for the Swindon team and also the kennel.
We managed 2 winners and a short head 2nd from our 3 runners.
Mercurial Lady was beaten by the narrowest of margins on the line in the Standard race. She showed good early but in all honesty she hit the front too early and just dodged about. She used to be able to tell where the line was and never used to get beat in a photo but she's lost her touch though and has been beaten in 4 photo finishes on the trot! She'll love the change of scenery in the other 2 legs if selected though.
Hoots Mon soon got back in to the winning groove as he flew the lids in the sprint division and led all the way to win by 3 3/4 lengths in a good 16.20. This completed a hat trick of wins for Hoots and he'll hopefully head to Oxford next.
Sligo Mick, who's been in great form of late, flew the lids and led all the way to win the Dogs division by 3 lengths in 28.73. Mick seems much more consistent of late and has put some nice runs together. I'm not sure how he'd handle the tighter circuits of Poole and Oxford but we'll give him a trial and see how he goes.
Ring The Alarm made it 6 wins from her 20 career starts as she led off the 2nd bend to win her A2 by 2 3/4 lengths in a personal best 28.88.
At the evening meeting we had 2 winners from our 5 runners. Chilli Spring led at the 1st to win her A5 by 3/4 of a length in 29.47. Spring has now won 5 of her 15 races and is a lovely genuine sort. She's for sale at reasonable money too and would give someone an awful lot of fun. If anyone is interested please give me a ring on 07969 021565 and I'll put any offers forward to her owner.
Bookies Girl picked up kennel mate Liscrea Premier on the run in to win her A2 by 1 length in 29.17.
Saturday 3rd
Over to Wimbledon first where we had 5 dogs competing in the 1st round of the St Leger.
Thing's started well for us as Portavoe Lass ran a terrific race to qualify in 3rd. Esme has been off the track for 3 months while recovering from a cracked hock so this was a great effort to qualify tonight and she'll improve nicely for the run.
Crinkill Jewel was desperately unlucky in her heat as she was totally wiped out of the race while going in to the 2nd bend in a good position.
Five Alley Pub never got a blow in as he was soundly beaten by Droopys Robles in the fastest time of the night.
Kennel mates, Ding Hero and Pony Bride were drawn in the same heat and Ding delighted us with his run as he led pretty much all the way. We weren't sure if Ding would stay this trip but he seemed to see it out well enough and came out of the race well. Pony Bride was outpaced in the early stages but finished strongly, unfortunately the line came too soon for her and she was eliminated in 5th place. She'll head back to Coventry next week for the heats of their marathon competition.
We had a good night at Swindon with 3 winners from our 9 runners.
Vevas Tiger led all the way in her first run back from seasonal rest to win in 29.42.
Stanton Apollo broke very well and led all the way in his A2 to win by 1 3/4 lengths in 28.75. He's settled in well at Swindon and looks like making a nice dog.
Droopys Harper just got the better of Rainham Chris on the line to lead home a kennel 1-2-3 in the A1. Chris showed very good early and flew down the back to go clear but Forest Ted and Droopys Harper looked to be closing off the last and it was Harper who flew home and got there on the nod. Harper really deserved this win after getting plenty of crowding in recent races, missing his Romford 575m maiden race due to the traffic and coming up against Slippery Patch at Oxford. He'll head to Oxford next for a trial and hopefully he'll make the inter track team.
