Week Ending 8th April
Monday 2nd
A brilliant start to the week with 3 good winners at Swindon and Ding Hero in top form at Romford.
Penskey Rain got the day off to a great start with an impressive win in the S1. Pensk paced up better than he has done recently and turned into the back straight within striking distance of Bigwood Honey and Wise Totty and he took it up off the last bend to win going away in a good 41.86.
Liscrea Premier got a much deserved win as she unusually led all the way in her A2. Penny was always going to produce a good run when able to dictate and she won in a decent 29.09.
Flag Officer completed the day's work at Swindon when he led around the 1st bend to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 29.22. Maverick looked much happier drawn nearer the inside and this win would have done him good.
On to Romford this evening for the heats of the Coral on TV Maiden Stayers Trophy over 575m. Ding broke well from trap 3 and showed a very good turn of early pace to lead at the bend, he's stayed every yard of the 575 and gone on to win by 2 3/4 lengths in a very fast 35.38.
Tuesday 3rd
Unraced pups, Chilli Spring (30.39), Hey Diego (29.60), Hey Rodrigo (17.11) and Chilli Hot Sauce (17.16) all delighted us with their trial efforts today.
Portavoe Lass returned from seasonal rest with a 17.18 spin and Boozed Aroma (16.60) was given a pre Easter Bunny spin.
Wednesday 4th
A trip to Hall Green this morning for the 1st round of the Blue Riband with Glenbane Air. After his good trial last week (28.48) we were fairly confident of qualifying for the semi-finals and Barney did us proud as he broke well and led all the way to win by 1 3/4 lengths in 28.40. The going was very poor and testing today but luckily for us it was suiting the railers and Barney came out of the race in great form and will head in to the semi's fit and well.
No luck at this evening's Swindon meeting as Lady Lomasi was the latest of our dogs to be knocked over. Fortunately she returned safe and sound.
Thursday 5th
Hoots Mon made it 3 silver medals on the trot as he again finished 2nd at Oxford this evening. He's running well enough but is just a couple of lengths off of where he needs to be.
Kilmalady Biffo was given a spin before racing and won his trial by nearly 9 lengths in a fast 26.83. This will have done him the world of good after taking a fall in his last race at Swindon.
Friday 6th
Just the 3 runners at today's BAGS meeting as the Easter Bunny finals took centre stage. Boozed Aroma was the kennels only representative and she was a bit unlucky as after taking a flyer from the boxes she was crowded on the bend and shuffled back to last.
Blackie Chan and Moody Mare were both out of luck in their A2.
Ding Hero was made favourite to win the Romford final this evening and he didn't disappoint. Ding showed a lovely turn of early and ran a terrific first bend to turn 2nd to Roxholme Posh and he quickly asserted as he ran a brave third bend to take up the lead. He stayed on strongly for a 2 1/2 length win. This was Ding's 2nd Category 3 win following on from last month's Monkey 509. He's now won 10 of his 19 starts for the kennel.
Saturday 7th
It looked as though it was going to be one of those night's as our first 5 runners all finished 2nd (including the race where we had 2 runners!). However, Malbay Kesha made sure we didn't go home empty handed as she led all the way to win her A2 in 29.39.
Special mention of Gemstone Jack who ran his best race so far as he was beaten just a short head in a good A2 contest. Jack showed he is learning all the time now and it's very exciting to think he isn't 2 years of age until September!
