Week Ending 22nd January
Monday 16thA couple of winners to start the week with.
Reagrove Dream ran a cracker to win her A5 in 29.78.
Effernogue Load continued his good recent form with a 1 1/2 length win in his A3. He recorded 29.26 and has done really well to work his way back up from A5.
Tuesday 17thA busy and fairly
successful trial day with 11 going through their paces.
Glenbrack Mary (43.02),
Oddson Whiskey (42.46) and
Sparkem Out (42.78) all qualified for the stayers trip today.
Sligo Mick overcame a stumble at the boxes to win his trial in 29.79.
Bramley Leah remains just outside of grading with her 30.90 effort today but she will hopefully improve with the work she's having.
Professor Dee Jay went really well to record 29.17 in his first 4 bend outing while Hiding Escort was hugely impressive as he stopped the clock at 28.93 first time round.
Mercurial Star moved soundly as he recorded a good 16.48 in his comeback sprint.
Ding Hero ran a lovely trial as he returned to the track for the first time since being bowled over at Hove to record 16.46. He was beaten a length by the impressive Hoots Mon.
Finally,
Razldazl Dazl had his first sprint trial since breaking his hock at Hove and moved pretty well.
Lauro recorded 16.63 and returned safe and sound.
Wednesday 18thPortavoe Lass very nearly gave the kennel our first Sky winner as she was beaten the shortest of short heads on the line in her 750m marathon at
Romford. It was a top class field and considering that was only her fourth UK start it was a brilliant run by our girl to push the recent Prestige winner, Express Trend all the way. All being well she'll now head to
Crayford for the Golden Jacket....if she doesn't break in season first.
Forest Ted qualified for the Monkey 509er final as he finished runner up in his heat. Lady
Jaro ran a good race again and finished 3rd.
In fact she was the third quickest dog in the whole comp but still failed to qualify.
Black Beach gave us our only winner of the night as he won his A2 nicely by 3 3/4 lengths in 29.43.
Friday 20thWe had 3 winners from today's meetings.
Flag Officer showed terrific early and rode a bit of first bend bumping to win a good A2 well in 29.14. Every run we get with this lad is a bonus and he's done brilliantly well since returning from a lay off.
Kennel legend Stanton Jerry got his first win since he suffered a very nasty wrist and stifle injury when just getting up on the line in his D2 contest. Jerry will be trialling back over 4 bends again
soon but is enjoying his sprint racing at the moment.
Coolykereen Lee surprised us all with a foot perfect display in his A2. The big puppy trapped well and paced up nicely to the corner and stayed the trip very strongly to win comfortably in a good 28.89. This was only his second ever race and I cant remember having a faster pup at this stage. He could be anything this lad and will be very interesting to see how he progresses.
Saturday 21stGlenbane Air completed his
qualifying trials with a decent 29.08 workout.
Penskey Rain (29.30) and Professor Dee Jay (29.36) also moved well.
Express Fantasy was a very short priced favourite to win her A4 contest and she didn't
disappoint.
Fanta trapped well and showed nice early to lead at the bend and went away to win nicely by 3 1/4 lengths in 29.41. She's only had a few races in her life but runs a great bend and she's certainly one to look forward too.
Der Lone Razor made it 3 wins from 4 starts since returning from a rest as he won his A4 by 8 1/2 lengths in a personal best 29.47. Spud broke
a lot better tonight and just missed all the trouble on the bend but he's learning his trade well now.
In other news....Another busy trial day ahead with Ding Hero and Mercurial Star stepping up to four bends.
Boynepark Joe and
Riverdale Spiros will return to action after their lay offs with a sprint.
Hiding Escort will head to Hove on Thursday night for his last
qualifying trial. He'll more than likely make his debut there the following week.
Crinkill Jewell and Lady
Jaro will hopefully join him at Hove for 695m and 475m opens
respectively.
The Swift Jade pups continue to school well and will head to
Swindon in the next couple of weeks.
