Week Ending 9th October
Monday 3rd
Not too much to report from today's meeting.
Springlawn Goofy won his A3 well in 29.36.
Tuesday 4th
Tonight was the final of the St Leger at Wimbledon and Penskey Rain did the kennel proud when finishing 5th. Pensk cracked out the lids and turned 2nd rounding the opening couple of turns. We were tapped for pace through the middle of the race before staying on well close home. It was a fantastic achievement by Pensk to make a Classic final and everyone at the kennels had a great night.
Wednesday 5th
A bad night for the kennels as we didn't manage a winner and little Galley Crash suffered a nasty gracilis injury. She faces around 3 months on the sidelines.
Thursday 6th
A trip down to the seaside tonight with Kilmalady Biffo and Mercurial Star. Biffo was taking a big step up in class in his sprint open but ran very well. He was crowded on the run to the bend and took a knock at the first, he rallied quickly but was baulked again coming off the second but stuck on well to finish 4th. With a clear run he wouldn't of been too far away.
Mercurial Star made it 4 wins from his last 5 starts as he ran a game race to win his 475m Open by the shortest of short heads. Both will be returning to Hove again next week.
Friday 7th
2 winners today. Active Lark led all the way in her A2 to win in 29.22 and Boozed Aroma won her A2 in 29.24.
Saturday 8th
A great night with 3 winners and a 2nd from our 6 runners.
Puppy, Der Lone Razor got his first race win as he led from the 2nd bend to win his A8 in good style in 30.01. Spud as he is known looks to have a good racing brain on him even at this early stage and will have learnt a lot from tonight's run.
Fishersmans Leah also got her first win as she led at the 3rd turn to win her A5 in 29.78.
Ding Hero managed his first win in only his second race for the kennel as he ran a blinder to pick up kennel mate Flag Officer on the line in 29.05. I was very pleased with Ding's run and he'll be heading to Hove for a maiden 515 next week. The track and trip will be ideal for him. Flag Officer ran a very good race as well and should improve again for the run.
