Week Ending 23rd October
Tuesday 18thStanton Bluebell returned to the track for the first time since rupturing her gracilis and went very well in her hand slip. She returned safe and sound and will head back to the track next week for a sprint. Recent arrivals Riverdale Spiros (29.30) and Shirty Gerty (29.40) both pleased in their workouts. Master Rock and Come Home Patch returned to the graded strength after going well enough today. Forest Faye recorded a 29.50 in her first 4 bend workout for a while and will come on nicely for that blowout. Her wrist injury has held up well.
Wednesday 19th
Just the one winner tonight as Baby Bubba made all in his A2 to win in 29.35.
Thursday 20th
Although we didn't manage a winner from our 3 winners at Hove this evening they all ran well in defeat. Kilmalady Biffo didn't see which way the great Jimmy Lollie went at lid rise after a tardy start and took a nasty whack on the bend. I'm sure Biffo will win plenty more races but Jimmy Lollie at his home track takes some beating!
Mercurial Star and Tommy The Wheel both ran their hearts out but were simply beaten by better dogs on the night.
Friday 21st
4 winners from today's meetings. Active Lark got the ball rolling when getting up close home to win her A2 in 29.53. Effernogue Load got a much deserved victory in his A5 and this will have done his confidence the world of good. Calling Beauty flew the lids and led all the way in her A3 to win in 29.53. The star of the show was Ding Hero as he ran a fairly good A1 field ragged to win going away in a personal best 28.83. This was a big improvement from Ding and he's now had two wins and two 2nds since joining the kennel.
Saturday 22nd
Riverdale Spiros impressed in a pre-race trial when recording 29.06. He's probably the closest railer we've ever had and looks to have a bright future.
I Certainly May flew the lids to lead all the way in her A4 to win in 29.64.
Noels Touch and Mutter To Razor both qualified for the final of the Owners Bonus Series S2 Sweepstake when both finishing 3rd in their respective heats. It's fair to say they both have time to find on the clock and Oneco Jewel looks like she'll take all the beating but it's great to be involved and we are all looking forward to it.
In other News...
Six of our kennel dogs have gone to John Peterson to train as we make room for some exciting new youngsters to arrive. Moving Merry, Stanton Subaru, Stanton Polly, Rusty Lisa, Enchanted Cashel and Backlane Belle have been great for the kennel and I'm sure they'll have plenty of success with John.
Penskey Rain continues to struggle a bit with the cough but is improving now. He'll more than likely have a trial at Swindon before heading to Hove for a little competition.
Stanton Jerry goes to the vets again on Thursday as we try to get to the bottom of his wrist injury that he sustained in his last race. He'll be joined by Flag Officer and Forest Ted who are both struggling with lameness.
Superstar Lily heads off to the breeding paddocks on Wednesday evening and she will be very sadly missed at the kennels. We can't wait to get some Megan babies back to train in the future!
There's a real buzz at the kennels about the new intertrack competition. We are very keen to be involved and won't be complaining about the travelling, I think it's a great idea. Our likely team that we will put forward will hopefully include Ding Hero, Fancy Collar (if he's ready in time), Forest Faye and Liscrea Premier.
