Week ending 28th August
Monday 22nd
Another poor start to the week as we didn't manage a winner today.
Tuesday 23rd
A good trial session as Active Lark returned to the racing strength with a 29.82 run.
Fancy Collar went well in his first four bend trial back from injury. Pingu faded badly off the last bend and cramped up a touch but still recorded 29.34. He'll improve nicely for that much needed blow out.
Coolykeeren Jig (16.68) and Northcamp Ellie (16.71) both went well in their sprints.
Wednesday 24th
A great night as we managed to qualify both Mercurial Star and Forest Ted for the 509m Monkey final next week. Forest Ted won his heat in 30.29 after leading at the first bend. Ted has now won 7 of his last 10 races and all 3 of his opens over the 509 trip.
Mercurial Star was always 2nd in his open but will go close in the final if he breaks in his best fashion.
Kilmalady Biffo and Stanton Subaru both ran well in defeat.
Thursday 25th
Tommy The Wheel ran a good race to finish 4th in his 450m open. He got crowded at the bend which ave him little hope of winning after that. Hopefully he'll be running in a 480m open at Swindon next week.
Friday 26th
3 winners from today's meetings. I Certainly May beat kennel mate Springlawn Goofy in their A4 in 29.42. The evergreen Stanton Sarah made it 7 wins in her last 12 races as she won her A4 in 29.59. Springlawn Jacko ran a blinder to win his A2 by nearly 5 lengths in 29.29.
Saturday 27th
Just the one winner tonight as Liscrea Premier made all to win her A2 in a personal best 29.02. Penny has been in terrific form since returning from season winning 2 of her 3 races.

Saturday, 20 August 2011

Week ending 21st August
Monday 15th
Another Monday with not much to report. Stanton Sarah only failed by a head to win her A4 after running another cracking race.
Tuesday 16th
A good trial session as Boozed Aroma (29.74) and Reagrove Dream (30.20) both returned to the graded strength. Come Home Patch (30.54) went well in his solo trial and this would of done his confidence the world of good. Active Lark improved for her last trial clocking 29.96 and should get back on next time. Fancy Collar returned from a near 3 month lay off with his dislocated toe to record a very good 16.24. The main thing is the toe held up very well and Pingu will be given a 4 bend trial next week. The enforced break looks to have done him the world of good as he looks a much stronger and more grown up dog now. This lad is a really exciting prospect.
Wednesday 17th
Baby Bubba made his 7/1 odds look very generous as he pinged the boxes and led all the way to get his first A2 win. He's getting stronger all the time but has plenty left to come still. He won in 29.38. Drive On Diva was beaten just a neck in her A7 and looks like she'll be winning soon enough.
Thursday 18th
A busy day at the kennels with our physio checking over 20 hounds and a trip to Hove in the evening. I can't remember a spell where the kennel has suffered as many injuries as we have done recently and the news from the physio was mainly bad. Sparkem Out faces a spell of 6 weeks off for treatment on her fibula. Tictac Butterfly, Precious Hawk and Calling Beauty are all progressing well but still need another month off. Razldazl Dazl is healing OK on his broken hock but needs another 3 months of walking and treatment before we think he'll be ready for a gallop. Stanton Jerry remains very lame on his wrist and is due back at the vets next week for a progress report. We did however get some good news regarding Ding Hero. Off the card since arriving from his previous trainer, Ding has been treated every day for his injuries and has progressed really well over the last few weeks. He's been given the all clear to return to full training and will be given a couple of weeks on the gallop before going to Swindon for a sprint trial.
The dogs ran really well down at Hove but we didn't manage to get a winner. Tommy The Wheel continues to run out of his skin as he finished 2nd in his 475m open. Tommy has really taken the step to open class well and was only beaten a length or so tonight.
Forest Ted ran his best race so far beside the seaside as he finished 2nd in his 515m open. He was well beaten though by the very impressive Kilmore Say Go who looks to me like a very decent animal. Ted will return to Swindon next week for their 509m competition.
Mercurial Star's race was pretty much over out of the boxes as the 5 dog cut straight across him and impeded him. Sammy showed plenty of pace though to get his head in front but always looked vulnerable to the close up stayers in the race. It's possible Sammy will also head to Swindon next week.
Friday 19th
Our recent dose of seconditis continued today as we had a ridiculous 7 silver medalists!
Outoftheblack was only beaten a length after coming in as a late reserve in her A4.
Molly The Second ran well but was well beaten by a run away winner in her A3.
Moody Mare continues to knock on the door after being beaten just 3/4 in her A4.
Galley Crash ran well at odds of 6/1 to finish 2nd in her A2. She's been harshly treated being put back in the same grade while running through her season.
Noels Touch was beaten just a neck after leading every where bar the line in his S2. Noels is getting stronger all the time and really deserves a win after running well without collecting gold recently.
Liscrea Premier was beaten just a shd in her A2 clocking 29.23. She's been running fantastically since returning from season and should continue to improve.
Adamant Yankee was a well beaten runner up in his A2 but yet again ran a good race. Yankee is always harshly treated in my opinion and more often than not just gets used as the bunny.
We did mange 1 winner today though with I Certainly May just getting up on the line to win her A4.
Saturday 20th
A good night with 2 winners, a 2nd and two 3rds from our 5 runners. Slaneyside Neasa ran a good race to lead at the third bend to win her A4 in 29.66. Rusty Lisa ran well in the same race and is improving with every run back from injury.
Motor Home ran probably her best ever race as she pegged back kennel mate Springlawn Jacko on the line to win the A2 in 29.23. Special mention for Jacko here as well though who ran a very good race on going the was once again favouring the outside runners.

Tuesday, 16 August 2011

Week ending 14th August
Monday 8th
Not too much to report from today's meeting. Mutter To Razor ran well to finish 2nd in her A3 and Moody Mare was an unlucky 3rd in her A4.
Tuesday 9th
A fairly busy trial day with 7 dogs going through their paces. Liscrea Premier (29.49), Galley Crash (29.74) and Rusty Lisa (29.75) all returned to the graded strength.
Sunvalley Crash (30.00), Active Lark (30.30), Reagrove Dream (30.45) and Boozed Aroma ( 16.51) all went well enough.
Wednesday 10th
A great night for the kennel with 4 winners.
Stanton Sarah got the ball rolling with yet another win. She won her A5 in 29.68.
Mercurial Star made it a hat trick of wins as he ran a terrific race to win the 480m open race. He was made to work very hard for the win by kennel mate Tommy The Wheel who ran a superb race to finish 2nd and pushed him all the way. Sammy won in 28.71. Both these will be heading to Hove next week.
Forest Ted made it 5 wins from his last 7 races as he ran probably the best race of his career. Teddy fell out the boxes but showed very good early to lead at the first. He really stretched clear down the back and went on to win the 509m open in 30.21. He'll also be going to Hove next week.
Friday 12th
Not a bad day as we returned with 3 winners and another 4 2nds to add to our recent collection.
Forest Faye ran a very gutsy race to win her A2 in a good 29.06. She showed terrific early to lead at the first and stayed well to hold on by a length. Faye returned to the kennels lame though and it looks like she has jarred a wrist. Hopefully she wont be on the sidelines for too long.
Mercurial Lady beat kennel mate Blackie Chan as she led all the way to win her A2 in 29.57.
Liscrea Premier won her first race back from seasonal rest in a good 29.21.
Noels Touch, Effernogue Load and Kilmalady Biffo all ran well in defeat.
Saturday 13th
No winners today but Moving Merry was only beaten a shd after just being picked up on the line in her A2. Motor Home also ran well in this race, finishing 3rd.
Stanton Jerry was a little disappointing in his A1 race when only finishing 3rd but it soon came to light that he had suffered a nasty wrist injury. Xray's show that there are no breaks so it looks likely that it's ligament damage although we wont know for sure until the swelling goes down some more.

Saturday, 6 August 2011

Week ending 7th August

Monday 1st
A poor start to the week with very little going our way. Slaneyside Neasa and Stanton Sarah both ran well to finish 2nd but other than those there was very little to write about!
Tuesday 2nd
Stanton Jerry returned none the worse for his fall last time out as he recorded a fastest of the day 28.88. Sunvalley Crash (29.77), Rusty Lisa (30.10), Liscrea Premier (30.06), Active Lark (16.77) and Forest Faye (16.59) all went well enough in their trials and returned safe and sound.
Wednesday 3rd
Again we had no luck on the track as we didn't manage a winner from the evening's meeting.
Master Rock, Galley Crash, Churchfield Mate, Boozed Aroma, Mercurial Star, Tommy The Wheel, Forest Ted and Droopys Edgar were all given a 250 yard gallop.
Friday 5th
A bout of seconditis today as we had 6 hounds occupying the runners up spot!
Forest Crash was beaten just a short head in his A3 as he tried to complete a hat trick of wins.
Kilmalady Biffo returned to a bit of form as he ran a good 2nd in a fast run A2 race.
Springlawn Goofy ran a blinder in his A4 and would have won given a run at the third bend. He'll be one to watch out for next time.
Noels Touch was a tad unlucky as he made his debut over the stayers trip in S2. Noelando Boom as he his known showed nice early to go in to the lead around the 2nd bend. I thought he would win the race as he began to stretch clear down the home straight approaching bends 3 & 4. However he was caught out rounding the 4th bend as began to slow down and check out wide as he expected the hare to stop at the pick up for the 480m races. He soon realised he had another lap to run and set off in pursuit once again. He was only beaten around two lengths at the finish and would surely have won baring him slowing down on the back straight. Hopefully he'll be over 6 bends again next time.
Stanton Subaru returned to a bit of form as she was desperately unlucky in her A3 race. Scooby got a fair whack at the 1st and was crowded around the last but fairly flew home and was only beaten a shd on the line. She would have won easily with a clear run.
Last month's Dog of the Month, Stanton Sarah continued where she left off as she won her A5 today. She has been in sparkling form of late. Forest Ted continued his superb recent form as he flew the lids and led all the way in his A1. Kennel legend Stanton Jerry was the only dog to give Ted a fright as he ran a great race to finish 2nd. Ted won in 28.76 and has now on 7 of his last 13 races including 5 A1's and an open.
Fancy Collar who is one of our most promising prospects for next year had his first gallop back after dislocating a toe some 9 weeks ago. Pingu went very well and the toe held up perfectly. He'll be regularly galloped over the next couple of weeks before being given a sprint at Swindon. Pingu won his last couple of races at Swindon including a trap to line A1 victory in a fast 28.79 beating the subsequent Gymcrack winner Taranis Rex.
Saturday 6th
A dreadful night as kennel favourite Churchfield Mate broke his leg around the second bend and following a check over on Sunday, Enchanted Cashel was found to have a cracked hock. It was certainly a night to forget with seemingly every race containing endless trouble.

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

Week ending 31st July
Monday 25th
Not much to report from today's meeting. Moody Mare ran well to finish 2nd in her A4. She is desperate for the red jacket and was a tad unlucky in running.
Kilmalady Biffo ran well enough to finish 3rd in a 400m maiden at Romford this evening.
Tuesday 26th
Noels Touch ran for the first time over the 685m trip today as he recorded 42.58 in his solo trial.
Springlawn Goofy (29.67) and Mercurial Lady (29.45) both returned to the racing strength after lengthy lay offs.
Sunvalley Crash (16.39) and Rusty Lisa (16.87) went well enough in their sprint trials.
Penskey Rain ran with real credit to finish 3rd in a hot 740m Open race live on Sky Sports as part of a superb Hove Sussex Cup finals night. Pensk didn't break at his best so was always playing catchup but never gave up and was beaten around 5 lengths by the two favourites.
Wednesday 27th
Another quiet night at the track. Sparkem Out and Baby Bubba both ran well to finish 2nd in their races.
Mercurial Star, Stanton Jerry, Superstar Lily, Tommy The Wheel, Droopys Edgar and Moving Merry all worked well as they were put through their paces on the gallop.
Friday 29th
A much better day as we managed 4 winners and a couple of 2nd's.
Blackie Chan produced a career best effort as he won his A4 nicely in 29.33.
Forest Crash dead heated in his A3 to make it two wins on the spin for him.
Mutter To Razor completed the afternoon's work as she got up close home to win her A3 in 29.79.
Everyone at the kennels made Mercurial Star the nap of the weekend as he was finally given a graded race at the track after a wait of 9 months! We were made to sweat a bit though as Sammy flopped from the boxes. He paced up well though and turned the first bend in 3rd place. He quickly showed the difference there is between Open class dogs and A1 dogs as he sliced through the field like a knife through butter to lead off the second turn. He went on to win by nearly 5 lengths in 28.73. He's now won his last 3 A1 races at Swindon but I don't think we'll be getting another anytime soon!
Noels Touch is worthy of a mention as he ran a blinder in a hot A2. Noels flew the boxes and ran a superb race to hold the impressive winner Junket Chick to 1 3/4 lengths in 28.84.
Saturday 30th
Mercurial Lady managed our only win of the night as she made nearly every post a winning one to score in her A2. Molly who is 3 years old has only had 10 races in her career, she has now won 4 of them. She should have a good year now though as we've put her on a suppressant and her niggling injuries look to be a thing of the past.
Sunday 31st
A great day for the kennel down at Hove as we managed 2 winners from our 5 open runners.
Tommy The wheel was foot perfect as he got a much deserved open race success in his 475m maiden contest. Tommy broke well and got his favoured position on the rails around the first bend and really went well down the back straight to pull 4 lengths clear. He tired a bit coming home but never looked like being beaten. He recorded 28.00 and looked very handsome on the presentation podium!
Mercurial Star made a quick reappearance after his A1 win Friday night and ran a superb race to win his 475m open. Sammy flew the lids and led all the way. He won in a good 27.68.

July Dog of the Month

There have been some terrific performers during the month. Forest Ted, Sparkem Out, Forest Faye, Mercurial Star, Forest Crash, Butchers Bounty and Kilmalady Biffo have all had brilliant months but the award has to go to Stanton Sarah. Sarah is a veteran of 145 races and to win 3 of her 6 races during July has been a great achievement by her. She won an A6 and two A7 races and has since been running well in A5 company. She certainly loves her racing and has been a great girl for the kennel.
