Week Ending 25th December
Monday 19th
Not much to report from today's BAGS meeting as we were out of luck and didn't manage a winner.
Tuesday 20th
A good trial session today with all 5 of our dogs performing well.
Big lad, Coolykereen Lee, led all the way to record 29.51, with youngster Express Fantasy not to far behind as she clocked 29.65. Der Lone Razor returned from a lay off to post a good 29.75. It was tough, heavy ground for these pups today and it certainly took it out of them a bit.
Stanton Jerry improved nicely for his trial last week as he managed 16.50 today. Bramley Leah also improved from the previous week with today's 17.58 effort.
Wednesday 21st
Just the one winner tonight as Baby Bubba recorded another victory. He led all the way in quite a decent A2 and stopped the clock at a personal best 29.02. Bubba has been strengthening up and improving all the time lately. He's only just over 2 years old so should make a nice little dog next year.
Thursday 22nd
Still no luck at Hove of late as we could only manage a couple of thirds.
Forest Ted got badly crowded on the first bend after having done the hard part in pacing up well.
Biffo again miss timed the start but ran a blinder in defeat as he finished 3rd.
Penskey Rain was only beaten around 3 lengths in a very hot Ballyregan Bob Memorial race. He would have still needed that run a bit and should be better for the outing although it does look like he needs a bit further nowadays.
Crinkill Jewell ran really well on debut as she finished 3rd in the maiden stayers, She wont be long in winning.
Friday 23rd
A terrific night as we managed 4 from 5 winners.
Glendine Girl won very well in only her second start. She led all the way and stayed on strongly to win by 4 1/2 lengths in 29.52. She looks a nice little pup.
Moody Mare flew the lids and won her A3 in good style by 4 1/2 lengths in 29.43.
Noels Touch ran a very game race as he just got up on the line to win his S2 in 42.55.
Flag Officer completed the nights work as he led all the way in his A2 to win in 29.14. Maverick should improve nicely for that run again.
Over at Romford, Portavoe Lass ran a stunning race on her debut in the 750m race. It was a very good quality open and Esme would have won well with any sort of a run. She looks as though she could make top class next year.
Oneco Light got our only BAGS winner as she just got up on the line to win her A7.
Week Ending 11th December
Monday 12th
A really good start to the week with 4 winners.
Fishermans Leah won her A4 in good style by 5 1/2 lengths in 29.62.
Gortkelly Hudini won his A5 in 29.86 after just getting up on the line.
Moody Mare led around the first bend to win her A3 in 29.44.
Malbay Kesha completed the day's work with a good win in her A3. She won today in 29.28 and is coming along nicely.
Tuesday 13th
A fairly quiet trial session with 5 dogs going to Swindon. Glendine Girl completed her qualifying with a good 29.82 effort.
Stanton Jerry returned from a long lay off to record a pleasing 16.80 trial. New puppy, Express Fantasy ran the track well to record the same time. Coolykereen Lee (17.03) and Bramley Leah (17.92) went OK as well.
Wednesday 14th
Another good night with 3 winners.
Oddson Whiskey won her A6 well in 29.82. She's a very Strong looking runner and will be trialled over the extended trip in the New Year.
Scobys Flash continued her good form with another win. She led all the way to win her A3 in 29.46.
Effernogue Load led around the last turn to win his A3 in 29.60.
Thursday 15th
Pretty much a night to forget at Hove this evening!
Portavoe Lass (30.42) and Crinkill Jewell (30.36) completed their trials tonight and will have their first races for the kennel next week.
Forest Faye ran well in defeat as she finished 2nd to a very good bitch in Droopys Eugenie.
Biffo missed the kick completely in his 475m event but ran well in defeat.
Boynepark Joe, Penskey Rain, Noels Touch and Forest Ted all got plenty of trouble as they finished down the field in their races.
Our best chance of the night was with Ding Hero though who had ran so well in defeat at Perry Barr last time out. Unfortunately our bad luck continued as Ding took a crashing fall at the first bend as the entire field bunched up. Thankfully he returned OK but will be given a break now before we get him ready for a crack at the Swindon Arc. It was a shame to end the year like that with Ding though as he's been a revelation since he joined us.
Friday 16th
A rare Friday night off meant we had just the afternoon meeting to cover.
We managed a couple of winners as Come Home Patch led at halfway to win his A7 in 30.14.
Black Beach ran a blinder to win his A2 by 1 3/4 lengths in 29.42.
Saturday 17th
Just the 1 winner tonight as Shirty Gerty stayed on strongly to win her A2 in good style.

Sunday, 11 December 2011

Week Ending 11th December
Monday 5th
A good start to the week with a couple of winners from the 'Murphy' stable.
Forest Crash got the verdict in his A3 winning in 29.64.
Bookies Girls got another A2 win as she again led all the way to win in 29.18.
Tuesday 6th
Today was the final leg of the Intertrack competition at Perry Barr. Unfortunately in the end Swindon came up a bit short and we failed to qualify for the final, finishing third behind Monmore Green and Hall Green.
Our kennel was represented by Ding Hero in the 480m Dogs leg and again he did us proud. He'd been off for a couple of weeks since suffering a nasty spike at Yarmouth and would have needed the run a bit but he ran a blinder to finish 2nd, only beaten a hd. He cracked out the boxes but got lost around the opening turns which let the eventual winner up his inside which cost us the race. Ding's calculated time of 28.40 was a very good one and he'd certainly find a length or two on that if he went back there.
Wednesday 7th
Just the one winner tonight as Come Home Patch pinged the lids and led all the way to win his A8 in 30.19.
Malbay Kesha ran well in defeat in her A3 and recorded a personal best 29.39. I don't think she's rated by too many people but she'll make into a nice bitch next year with some more experience. She's not two years of age until April.
Thursday 8th
Tonight we made the trip to Hove with 3 trial dogs and 3 racers. We had a nightmare near 4 hour journey after getting caught up behind an accident but got there in the end.
Penskey Rain ran a very pleasing trial as he recorded 30.33 on normal going. He moved well and returned safe and sound. Crinkill Jewell was beaten just 1 1/4 lengths by Pensk and probably would have beaten him with a clear run. She's a very exciting addition to the kennel and will hopefully head back to Hove for her final qualifying trial next week. Portavoe Lass was slightly disappointing as she recorded 30.81 but it's early days and she should improve for that run next week.
Forest Faye made her open race debut a winning one as she led virtually all the way in her 475m race. She dug deep when it mattered and won in 28.21. She's only just starting to hit form and should continue to improve now.
Kilmalady Biffo (who for some reason wasn't excepted to run at Monmore) flew the lids and won really impressively in his 475m race. It was a decent little race and he never gave them a look in as he recorded a fast 27.84.
Boynepark Joe made an encouraging debut as he finished a close up 5th in his maiden 515m race. He showed very good pace up but took a touch around the bend and got a little lost but stayed on gamely. He'll improve massively for the run and will head back to Hove again next week.
Friday 9th
A very good day for the kennel as we returned with 5 winners.
Bookies Girls made it 2 wins in a week as she flew the lids (2.33 sectional) and held on to win her A2 in 29.16.
Scobys Flash got her first A3 win as she led all the way to win in 29.61.
Baby Bubba showed terrific pace from 2-3 to win a good little A2 in 29.29.
Black Beach got his first win for the kennel as he led all the way in his A3 to record 29.35. It would have done this lad the world of good to get a clear run and get his head in front after suffering some very rough rides in his early races. He'll make into a nice little dog next year.
Glenbrack Mary completed the day's work as she continued her excellent recent form. She fairly flew home again to win going away in 29.71. Mary has now won 4 of her last 7 races.
Saturday 10th
Flag Officer moved well in his 480m trial this evening to stop the clock at 29.61. He cramped quite badly on the run in so will improve for the run. Fingers crossed this lad stays sound as he's a lovely dog and could be a lot of fun next year.
We managed two winners from our 5 runners tonight. The legend that is Forest Ted returned to action after a spell on the sidelines and flew the lids to lead all the way in his A1. He really needed this run and will improve for the outing. Hopefully Swindon will manage to fill some open races again as Ted loves the 509m trip and it would be nice to leave him at Swindon for a few races.
Bramley Bella got another win as she bullied her way around the first turn to win her A4 in 29.73.

In Other News...
Our physio spent a few hours at the kennels on Thursday checking over around 25 dogs.
Mercurial Star was given the all clear to return to action after his fall 5 weeks ago although he'll probably be given another month off to rest before we bring him back.
Mercurial Lady faces a 6-8 week lay off after the injury she suffered at Hall Green but should make a full recovery.
Razldazl Dazl aggravated his chipped hock on his return to the track last month but we've been told it's not too serious and a return to racing may still be possible in the new year.
Stanton Jerry has also been given a clean bill of health and will be trialling soon.
The kennel should have a few in action on the new Racing Post TV channel as we send some down to Hove on Thursday. Penskey Rain, Shirty Gerty, Kilmalady Biffo, Forest Faye, Ding Hero, Boynepark Joe and possibly Forest Ted and Lady Jaro could all be entered.
Swift Jades pups continue to school well and had their first 'proper' sprint trial out of the boxes today. They are all chasing very well and it will be very exciting to watch them hit the track next year.

Sunday, 4 December 2011

Week Ending 4th December
Monday 28th
A couple of winners to start the week with.
Calling Beauty flew the lids and led all the way in her A3 to win in 29.29.
Baby Bubba continued his good recent form with a winning performance in his A2. Bubba broke well and led off the 2nd bend to win in a personal best 29.17.
Tuesday 29th
A very good trial session for the kennel today.
New arrivals, Portavoe Lass (29.32), Crinkill Jewell (29.35) and Boynepark Joe (29.45) all pleased us in their first 4 bend workouts. Youngster, Glendine Girl rode a first bend bump well to record 30.29 and will have her final qualifying trial next week.
Forest Ted went well enough in his first trial for a while to record 29.25. He'll need a few runs to hit top form as he's not had too much work of late.
Flag Officer again moved nicely in his solo sprint to record 16.42. He'll be stepped up to 4 bends next week.
Wednesday 30th
A bit of a mixed day today as the kennel was very much out of luck at Hall Green in the Intertrack but we managed 3 winners from 5 at Swindon.
Hall Green has never been a happy hunting ground for the kennel and that very much continued today. Active Lark got no end of trouble in her sprint race and didn't run the track particularly well as she finished 4th. Mercurial Lady didn't handle the track at all and was well beaten in last place. She was later found to have pulled a whip muscle and will face a while on the easy list. Butchers Bounty did run a blinder in a very tough heat to finish 3rd and score some much needed points.
Moody Mare got another A3 win under her belt as she led around the first bend to win in 29.53.
Molly The Second ran a cracker to win her A2 in 29.31
Springlawn Goofy led on the run in to complete the night's work as he won his A2 in 29.16
Friday 2nd
4 winners from today's meetings and a few good performances in defeat as well.
Liscrea Premier got the ball rolling as she ran on strongly to win her A2 in 29.18.
Malbay Kesha got her second win on the spin as she led all the way in her A3 to win in 29.66. Kesha eased again on the run in when she saw the stands but is getting better every time she goes to the track and I'm confident she'll make into a nice bitch next year with more experience.
Outoftheblack ran a brilliant first bend as she went from last to first and moved well to win her A4 in 29.51.
Forest Faye bounced back to a bit of form as she won a decent A2 in 29.12. I still think there's more to come from this lady and she may well be given a change of scenery next week.
Saturday 3rd
Boynepark Joe completed his qualifying trials tonight and moved very well to win his trial in 29.09. It was a nice improvement from Tuesday and he stayed every metre at top pace.
Noels Touch ran his best ever 6 bend race as he comfortably won his S2 in a good 42.08. It's by far the best he's stayed the trip and hopefully he'll be able to get a few more runs over the trip.
Lady Jaro flew the lids in a 2.33 sectional and went on to win her top heat easily in 28.84. She's returned brilliantly well from lameness and it would be great to find a veteran open for her to have a crack at.
Effernogue Load ran well to finish 2nd in his A3 and in the process qualified for the next week's Owners Bonus Series final. He's got a bit to find on the clock but you never know.

In Other News...
Ding Hero has had a couple of gallops during the week and will be ready to run in the final leg of the Intertrack competition at Perry Barr on Tuesday morning. It's likely he'll only have a couple of more runs this year before he has a bit of a break over the winter. He's a lovely prospect for next year.
Portavoe Lass, Crinkill Jewell and Penskey Rain head to Hove on Thursday evening for a 515m trial. Penskey has been doing well on the gallop and we are hoping to have him ready for a crack at the Ballyregan Bob Memorial race should we get excepted to run. Portavoe and Crinkill will be heading to Hove at some point in the future for opens so this will be a good experience for them.
It's likely they will be joined by Kilmalady Biffo, Shirty Gerty, Boynepark Joe and Forest Faye for races on the night.
Tommy The Wheel who's been running a little below par recently will be given a nice break to freshen up. He's been on the go all year which is a big ask for a dog so he'll have good break during the winter before starting again next year.
Swift Jade's pups continue to impress on the schooling track and are doing everything we've asked of them so far.

Sunday, 27 November 2011

Week Ending 27th November
Monday 21st
A quiet start to the week at Swindon with 1 winner from today's runners.
Scobys Flash led around the 1st bend to win her A5 in 29.64.
Donna and I made the long journey East to Yarmouth for the third leg of the National Intertrack. The kennel had half of Swindon's team and we did quite well. Active Lark scored a solid 5 points (she's now got 25 points in the comp) when finishing 3rd in her sprint race.
Mercurial Lady ran very well to finish 3rd in her bitches division. She flew the lids but didn't handle the 2nd bend very well and lost a bit of ground.
Ding Hero ran another superb race as he made it four wins on the trot as he ran away with the Dogs division. Ding ran the track brilliantly well on his first look and hugged the rail and missed all the trouble on his outside as 3 dogs took nasty falls. We turned 2nd heading into the back straight and soon asserted going into the third. He stayed really strongly and powered home for a 6 3/4 length victory in a very good 28.17.
Tuesday 22nd
A quiet trial session with only 3 dogs having solo sprints.
Flag Officer delighted us with his 16.38 workout and will return next week for another sprint. Glendine Girl 16.93 and new arrival, Boynepark Joe, 16.71 both went well enough.
Wednesday 23rd
A great night as we won all 3 of the races that we competed in.
Fishersmans Leah beat kennel mate Gortkelly Hudini by 2 lengths to win her A5 in 29.62.
Butchers Bounty won his A2 by a length in 29.25.
Veteran, Lady Jaro, produced a sparkling run as she demolished her A2 field to win by 5 3/4 lengths in a good 28.88.
Friday 25th
The home leg of the National Intertrack competition was the highlight of this afternoons BAGS card. We were represented by Mercurial Lady after it was decided it was best to rest Active Lark for the next leg at Hall Green and Ding Hero wasn't ready after taking a spike to his wrist at Yarmouth. She did us all proud though as she won her heat by 1/2 length in 29.17. It's fair to say she kept plenty in hand and relished the switch of track she had earlier in the week.
Other winners on a very good day included Glenbrack Mary who won her A5 by the 3 lengths in 29.69. Springlawn Goofy won his A3 in a good 29.26. Tictac Butterfly ran a blinder to just get up on the line to win in 29.51. Bramley Bella made it 3 wins from 5 starts as she led at the first bend to win her A5 in 29.81. Malbay Kesha completed the day as she won her first race for the kennel. Kesha moved well to go 3 or 4 lengths clear down the back but was spooked by the crowd as she turned for home and put her head in the air, luckily she just held on for the win. She's getting braver and more confident every time she goes to the track but she's still got a way to go.
Blackie Chan remains out of luck though and he's now gone 17 races without a win.
Saturday 26th
Scobys Flash got tonight's winner as she led all the way to win her A5 nicely in a personal best 29.46.
Kilmaladay Biffo ran a terrific race to finish a very close up 3rd in a hot 416m Open at Monmore. He got touched off at the 2nd bend but stayed on gamely at the finish. Hopefully he's done enough to get excepted in the Festival 416m competition a week on Monday.

In Other News...
3 of Swift Jades pups returned to Bicester for their 2nd handslip and they all delighted us with their efforts.
Active Lark, Mercurial Lady and Butchers Bounty all head to Hall Green for the next Intertrack leg on Wednesday.I think this will be a tough leg for Swindon, it's a very hard track to run first time.
Every effort is being made to get Ding Hero ready for the final leg of the Intertrack at Perry Barr although he certainly won't be running for the sake of it. There is an awful lot to look forward to with this lad and he won't be rushed.
Tuesday will be an interesting trial day as the new intakes Portavoe Lass and Crinkill Jewell both have solo 480m spins. Forest Ted returns from injury for a four bend trial, he has been working well on the gallop so we are keeping everything crossed he returns sound.

Sunday, 20 November 2011

Week Ending 20th November
Monday 14th
A brilliant start to the week with 4 winners from our 6 runners including Reagrove Dream's success in her Bonus Series A6 final.
Reagrove got the day off to a flyer as she flew home and won the final by 3/4 of a length in 29.75. It's great to win a good prize with one of our kennel dogs and massive credit to Adam who worked on her day and night to get her ready for the race. They did the kennel proud.
Outoftheblack recorded a personal best 29.53 as she won her A5 nicely by 2 lengths.
I Certainly May pinged the lids and led all the way to win her A4 by 3 lengths in 29.48.
Sparkem Out completed the day's work when she got up on the line to win her A2 in 29.36.
Tuesday 15th
Not much good news from the trip to the vets today. As expected, Riverdale Spiros, suffered a torn whip muscle and faces a lay off of around two months. Meanwhile Fancy Collar had xray's taken on his wrist injury which has revealed a chip at the back of his wrist. It's only a very small chip and hasn't damaged the tendon too much but it's still a bad injury and he faces another lengthy lay off.
At trials today Oddson Whiskey qualified for racing with a 30.25 workout and Bookies Girls returned to the racing strength after a 29.68 spin.
Wednesday 16th
Not too much to report from tonight's meeting. Liscrea Premier got a much deserved win in her A2 as she won in 29.25.
We were busy on the gallop today as 12 hounds were put through their paces and the kennel welcomed 3 new exciting recruits.
Thursday 17th
Tommy The Wheel was all alone in the van on our trip to Hove this evening as the other 2 races we entered for failed to fill. Tommy was in a very hot 475m open and ran well to finish 4th. It's been a real struggle to get enough races for Tommy lately with Swindon opens not filling and limited opportunities in the A1's. It's a shame as the dog is in terrific shape and loves his racing.
Friday 18th
We headed off to Oxford in the morning for the 2nd leg of the National Intertrack. It was always going to be a difficult day for Swindon at one of the trickier tracks in the group but we did well enough to end the day only 4 points behind leaders Hall Green. Active Lark got the sole Swindon victory as her brilliant form continued. She flew the lids and again led all the way to win in 27.14. Larky has now won her last 5 races on the trot for us.
We were very much out of luck with our other kennel representative, Sunvalley Crash. He got it all wrong at the boxes and hit the rails on the 1st bend and ran a poor race. He was later found to have chipped a hock and a return to racing looks doubtful but we'll give him every chance.
Meanwhile we had a very poor day at Swindon as we didn't manage a winner from our 14 runners. We barely had anything that got a clear run and only Baby Bubba and Glenbrack Mary got close as they finished as runners up.
Saturday 19th
A terrific night for the kennels as Kilmalady Biffo and Shirty Gerty gave us an open race double at Monmore Green. Biffo who was having his first run in a few weeks ran a blinder to score in his 416m contest, He trapped OK but showed great pace down the back to lead at the third turn before tiring coming home. He hung on gamely to win a shd in 25.00 and will improve for the run. Shirty Gerty flew home to just get up on the line to win her 630m race. It's her first win for the kennel and she could be a very interesting runner over the extended distances.
At Swindon, Oddson Whiskey, provided us with our winner tonight. It was only her first race for the kennel but she won really well as she led out the 2nd bend and stayed strongly to win her A7 in 29.92. It was great to get a winner for her owners as they deserve a change of luck after the gorgeous Oddson Foxy had to be put down after being fought over the wall last year and their puppy Oddson Expresso fought in his first and only race at Swindon.

In Other News...
Three of Swift Jade's pups were given their first ever hand slip at Bicester and absolutely flew round. They all chased brilliantly and showed plenty of natural ability. They are a very exciting set of pups.
Ding Hero, Mercurial Lady and Active Lark are all in perfect order as they head for the next leg of the National Intertrack competition at Yarmouth on Monday. The team will run well if they handle the track OK on their first look and the kennel is very much looking forward to it.

Sunday, 13 November 2011

Week Ending 13th November
Monday 7th
We were a touch unlucky today as we had 5 Silver medals and 1 Gold.
Moody Mare won her A3 in 29.81 after leading around the first turn.
Reagrove Dream qualified for the final of her Owners Bonus Series race when just failing to get up on line in her semi today.
Tuesday 8th
Lady Jaro (29.09), Stanton Bluebell (29.41) and Oneco Light (29.97) all returned to the racing strength after running well in their respective trials. Kilmalady Biffo moved well in his sprint trial recording 16.24. Bookies Girls returned from injury to record 16.62 in her trial.
Wednesday 9th
A couple of winners from tonight's meeting. Come Home Patch got a much deserved first win as he crossed the line in 30.37 to win his A8 nicely. Sunvalley Crash trapped well and ran a good first bend as he went on to record another A2 victory. He won in 29.36.
Dance Izzy suffered a nasty spike in her race and will need 3-4 weeks off. Izzy has been running well enough of late but is really in need of a downgrade as she has now gone 15 four bend races without tasting victory.
Friday 11th
First to Monmore where Swindon were taking part in the first leg of the National Intertrack competition. We were represented in the first and last heats by Active Lark and Ding Hero.
Larky continued her excellent form when springing a 10/1 surprise as she flew the lids and led all the way to win the Bitches event. She has now won 5 of her last 6 races.
Ding Hero made it a memorable double for the kennel as he also flew the lids. Ding followed the fast starting 6 dog around the opening bends and looked to have got it wrong as he moved on the outside of him but he quickly cut back to the rail and ran a terrific third bend to take the lead and went on to score comfortably in a good 28.70. He's now had 4 wins and two 2nds from his 6 races for the kennel and is turning in to a really nice little dog. Ding has been a good success story for us and he's more than repaying every one's hard work that's been put into him.
At Swindon we managed four winners and a couple of 2nds. Effernogue Load ran his best race for a long time as he won his A5 by nearly 5 lengths in 29.39. Noels Touch ran a superb race to pick up kennel mate Baby Bubba close home to win his A2 in 29.29. Glenbrack Mary ran on strongly to win her A5 in 29.94. Bramley Bella ran another game race to make it 2 wins from 2 starts as she led at the third turn to win in 29.74.
Motor Home and Malbay Kesha both ran very good races in defeat.
A terrific day was ruined though as Fancy Collar suffered a nasty wrist injury on his return to the track. I suspect he may have chipped a bone but we wont know for sure until we can get some xray's taken early next week. It's such a shame as Pingu is certainly one of the best dogs in the kennel and his owners really deserve a change of luck.
Saturday 12th
Another good night of results were ruined by the injuries sustained to another 3 of our dogs.
Mercurial Lady ran her normal 'interesting race' as she won her A2 by the smallest margin in 29.21. Gortkelly Hudini got his first win for the kennel as he won his A6 really well in a personal best 29.72. Harry has been off for around 3 weeks with a touch of the cough so should improve nicely for this run. Der Lone Razor got a much deserved win in his A7 as he won the 'Hell Razor Retirement Stakes' well in a personal best 29.89. Calling Beauty ran a game race as she led on the line to win her A3 in 29.77.
Stanton Bluebell was retired from racing tonight after suffering a recurrence of her gracilis injury. Bluebell will be difficult to replace as she has been a terrific bitch for the kennel. She won numerous A1's and a couple of opens and was very rarely led in her races. She will make a terrific pet for someone.
Nags Head sustained a jarred wrist and will be off the track for 3 or 4 weeks while our really good prospect Riverdale Spiros has a muscle injury and will be heading of to the vets for a check over as soon as possible.

In other News...
Sunvalley Crash and Active Lark look likely runners for us in the Oxford Leg of the Intertrack competition.
The list of injured dogs seems to be getting longer by the day but Mercurial Star, Flag Officer, Penskey Rain and Forest Ted are all doing well in their recoveries.
The kennel is looking forward to the arrival of a couple of very useful additions who should be with us on Wednesday.
Kilmalady Biffo, Tommy The Wheel and Shirty Gerty will be heading to Hove on Thursday for some open races.

Sunday, 6 November 2011

Week Ending 6th November
Monday 31st October
A good start to the week with 2 winners.
Ding Hero continued his excellent form since joining the kennel as he flew out and led all the way in his A1. He won in a personal best 28.80 and will now head to Monmore for the National Intertrack.
Sunvalley Crash made his 6/1 odds look very generous as he led all the way in his A2 to win in 29.27.
Tuesday 1st November
Bramley Bella (30.16) and Sparkem Out (29.39) both joined the graded strength after running good trials. Stanton Bluebell delighted us with a 29.42 effort in her first four bend workout in a good while. She looked like she maintains all of her old early zip.
Fancy Collar returned from injury to record a fast 16.27 sprint and Lady Jaro pleased us with a 16.47 spin as she returns after a lengthy lay off.
Wednesday 2nd
A funny night for the kennel as we managed a couple of winners but had a huge injury scare for top dog Mercurial Star.
Nags Head ran his best race so far to win his A4 in a personal best 29.47 and Mercurial Lady got another A2 win in 29.31. Youngster, Der Lone Razor, ran another good race in defeat as he finished runner up in his A7.
Mercurial Star gave us a massive fright as he contested his 480m Open. Sammy flew the lids but fell to the ground in a heap after a couple of strides. He took what seemed an age to get to his feet and fell again rounding the first bend. He was quickly picked up down the back straight and to our amazement walked off the track as sound as a pound. He was later found to have over stretched his lower back which caused a temporary paralysis but he should make a full recovery in time and return to the track which was a massive relief to everyone.
Friday 4th
3 winners from today's meetings. Forest Crash made it 2 wins from 2 as he led on the line to win his A3 in 29.73. Scobys Flash got her first win for the kennel as she led all the way in her A5 to win in 29.82. Youngster, Riverdale Spiros, showed terrific potential as he won his A1 in 29.13. Ricky has only just turned 2 years of age and has a great attitude for the game. He's a brilliant railer with good all round pace and looks a really exciting prospect for next year.
Saturday 5th
Fancy Collar ran a very nice trial before racing as he flew the lids and beat the useful Kays To Blame by over 5 lengths in 29.12. Pingu will improve massively with some consistent racing and if he stays injury free it will take a good dog to beat him in the A1's.
Active Lark made it 4 wins from her last 5 starts as she again led all the way to win her A2 in 29.12. Bramley Bella won at the first time of asking as she ran a really gutsy race to get up on the line to win her A5 in 29.93.

Sunday, 30 October 2011

Week Ending 30th October
Monday 24th
A couple of hard luck stories to begin the week with. Der Lone Razor was desperately unlucky in his A7 as he threw himself for a gap on the 3rd bend that wasn't really there and got tangled up. He would have won very easily but he should of learnt plenty from this run. Nags Head just got done on the line in his A4.
Tuesday 25th
Shirtey Gerty impressed in her first 6 bend workout for the kennel as she recorded 42.07. Bramley Bella moved well to win her trial in 29.82 while Stanton Bluebell (16.66), Sparkem Out (16.59) and Oddson Whiskey (17.30) all pleased in their sprint trials.
Friday 28th
A terrific day for the kennel as we returned with 6 winners and a couple of encouraging performances. Tictac Butterfly got the ball rolling as she led at the first bend to win her A2 by 3 lengths in 29.32. Glenbrack Mary won her first race for a while as she led on the run in to win her A6 in 29.99. Mercurial Lady got on with it nicely today as she won her A2 by 3 lengths in 29.31. Active Lark flew the lids and was never in danger of being beaten as she won her A2 in 29.21. Butchers Bounty led round the first bend and won his A2 well in 29.24. Forest Crash completed the day's work as ran a game race to beat kennel mate Calling Beauty a shd in 29.71.
Come Home Patch ran his best race so far as he was just denied on the line in his A8. Hopefully Chunk as he is known will continue to improve. Malbay Kesha ran a massively improved race as she showed terrific early pace to lead well in her A4, Kesha just tired coming home and finished 3rd but she won't be long in winning and will make a very nice bitch in time.
Saturday 29th
A really good night for the kennel started well as Shirty Gerty won her pre race trial easily in a fast 29.05. She stays all day and could be an interesting runner over the marathon trips.
Forest Faye delighted us with her first race back after lameness as she was just beaten on the line in her A2. If we can keep her sound and get some consistent racing into her she'll make into a very nice bitch and could be a good one for the National Intertrack competition.
Riverdale Spiros made his debut for the kennel in A1 and ran a very good race. Ricky missed his break but showed good pace up, ran a brave corner and fairly flew down the back straight where he just got held up going into the third. He just tired a bit coming home but he showed enough promise to suggest he'll be one of Swindon's top dogs very soon.
Molly The Second has been running very well lately without success but took her chance well tonight after getting a much needed downgrade to A3. She won well in 29.31.
Next up was the final of the Owners Bonus Series S2 competition where we had Mutter To Razor and Noels Touch running. We needed a smash break from Noels and that's just what we got. He flew the lids but we were worried when the favourite Oneco Jewell turned 2nd to him rounding the 2nd bend but Noels really moved well down the back and built up a nice lead and hung on at the line to win by 3/4 in his fastest time of 42.35. It was a terrific effort from Noels and he really deserved the win. Muttsy ran a very good race to finish 3rd.
In Other News..
Mercurial Star and Tommy The Wheel have been ticking over nicely on the gallop after being given the week off from racing. Both will hopefully be running at Swindon on Wednesday.
Penskey Rain faces a month on the easy list after he was found to be struggling with a muscle injury after his Oxford run.
Kilmalady Biffo should be ready to race in a week as his sore toes are healing well now. Forest Ted is bouncing and very keen for a run but will have to wait another 2-3 weeks as his treatment continues on his shoulder injury.
We were lucky enough to welcome four pups out of the brilliant staying bitch, Swift Jade, into the kennel this week. They are nearly 13 months old now and are stunning looking animals who look fantastic prospects. I can't wait to see how they will turn out.

Monday, 24 October 2011

Week Ending 23rd October
Tuesday 18th
Stanton Bluebell returned to the track for the first time since rupturing her gracilis and went very well in her hand slip. She returned safe and sound and will head back to the track next week for a sprint. Recent arrivals Riverdale Spiros (29.30) and Shirty Gerty (29.40) both pleased in their workouts. Master Rock and Come Home Patch returned to the graded strength after going well enough today. Forest Faye recorded a 29.50 in her first 4 bend workout for a while and will come on nicely for that blowout. Her wrist injury has held up well.
Wednesday 19th
Just the one winner tonight as Baby Bubba made all in his A2 to win in 29.35.
Thursday 20th
Although we didn't manage a winner from our 3 winners at Hove this evening they all ran well in defeat. Kilmalady Biffo didn't see which way the great Jimmy Lollie went at lid rise after a tardy start and took a nasty whack on the bend. I'm sure Biffo will win plenty more races but Jimmy Lollie at his home track takes some beating!
Mercurial Star and Tommy The Wheel both ran their hearts out but were simply beaten by better dogs on the night.
Friday 21st
4 winners from today's meetings. Active Lark got the ball rolling when getting up close home to win her A2 in 29.53. Effernogue Load got a much deserved victory in his A5 and this will have done his confidence the world of good. Calling Beauty flew the lids and led all the way in her A3 to win in 29.53. The star of the show was Ding Hero as he ran a fairly good A1 field ragged to win going away in a personal best 28.83. This was a big improvement from Ding and he's now had two wins and two 2nds since joining the kennel.
Saturday 22nd
Riverdale Spiros impressed in a pre-race trial when recording 29.06. He's probably the closest railer we've ever had and looks to have a bright future.
I Certainly May flew the lids to lead all the way in her A4 to win in 29.64.
Noels Touch and Mutter To Razor both qualified for the final of the Owners Bonus Series S2 Sweepstake when both finishing 3rd in their respective heats. It's fair to say they both have time to find on the clock and Oneco Jewel looks like she'll take all the beating but it's great to be involved and we are all looking forward to it.
In other News...
Six of our kennel dogs have gone to John Peterson to train as we make room for some exciting new youngsters to arrive. Moving Merry, Stanton Subaru, Stanton Polly, Rusty Lisa, Enchanted Cashel and Backlane Belle have been great for the kennel and I'm sure they'll have plenty of success with John.
Penskey Rain continues to struggle a bit with the cough but is improving now. He'll more than likely have a trial at Swindon before heading to Hove for a little competition.
Stanton Jerry goes to the vets again on Thursday as we try to get to the bottom of his wrist injury that he sustained in his last race. He'll be joined by Flag Officer and Forest Ted who are both struggling with lameness.
Superstar Lily heads off to the breeding paddocks on Wednesday evening and she will be very sadly missed at the kennels. We can't wait to get some Megan babies back to train in the future!
There's a real buzz at the kennels about the new intertrack competition. We are very keen to be involved and won't be complaining about the travelling, I think it's a great idea. Our likely team that we will put forward will hopefully include Ding Hero, Fancy Collar (if he's ready in time), Forest Faye and Liscrea Premier.

Monday, 17 October 2011

Week ending 16th October
Tuesday 11th
Malbay Kesha showed she was none the worse for her first race when she recorded 29.45 in her trial today. New recruit Shirty Gerty won her trial well in 29.39 while recent Irish intake Riverdale Spiros pleased with a 16.44 sprint.
Hell Razor was retired today after finishing lame in his sprint trial. Raz was a brilliant greyhound for the kennel winning 25 races. He was a very gutsy dog who never knew when he was beat. He be sorely missed at the kennels when he retires to his new home.
Wednesday 12th
Baby Bubba provided the kennel with our first winner of the week when leading all the way in his A3 to record 29.56.
On the night we were delighted with Forest Ted's run in the 509m open, he was beaten just a neck after leading all the way to the line which was a good run considering he hadn't run for 3 weeks after a nasty spike last time. However Ted was lame the next day with a shoulder strain and faces another few weeks on the easy list.
Thursday 13th
A terrific night for the kennel down at Hove as we had 2 winners and 2 seconds from our 4 runners. Tommy The Wheel was desperately unlucky in his 475m open getting beat by the shortest of short heads on the line. He took a touch around the 2nd bend which probably made the difference in the end. Ding Hero also ran a good race to finish runner up on his first look at the track. He was unlucky to come up against the quirky Forest Hero who moved directly in to his path out the boxes and just kept pulling out more to beat us by a couple of lengths.
Kilmalady Biffo ran a brilliant race to beat the top class Sleeping Urban in the sprint. We were quickly in to stride and although the favourite had every chance in behind he couldn't reel us back and we crossed the line in a good 16.33. Biffo could make a nice sprinter and the National Sprint at Nottingham later on in the year might be worth a look at.
Mercurial Star continued his brilliant recent form when winning his 3rd open on the spin and 4th race on the trot when leading all the way in his 475m open. Sammy has had a great year and will be heading back to Hove next week instead of going to Swindon to defend his 509 monkey crown.
Friday 14th
Just the one winner from today's meeting which summed up another poor week at Swindon.
Nags Head led all the way when winning his first race for us in 29.56.
Noels Touch, Calling Beauty, Effernogue Load, and Black Beach all ran well to finish as runner up.
Saturday 15th
Kilmalady Biffo made a quick re appearance as he contested a 450m open. Biffo flopped out but showed terrific pace to lead around the first bend but didn't run the track at all and moved off wide at the second bend. I think Biffo would have won if he'd had seen the track before.
Penskey Rain was given a 645m blowout tonight after his 740m race at Hove failed to fill on Thursday. Pensk disappointed when only finishing third but he was off colour the next day and has a touch of kennel cough which at least gives us the reason for his poor showing. He'll be given as much time as he needs to recover and his next likely target will be the Kent St Leger at Crayford.

Monday, 10 October 2011

Week Ending 9th October
Monday 3rd
Not too much to report from today's meeting.
Springlawn Goofy won his A3 well in 29.36.
Tuesday 4th
Tonight was the final of the St Leger at Wimbledon and Penskey Rain did the kennel proud when finishing 5th. Pensk cracked out the lids and turned 2nd rounding the opening couple of turns. We were tapped for pace through the middle of the race before staying on well close home. It was a fantastic achievement by Pensk to make a Classic final and everyone at the kennels had a great night.
Wednesday 5th
A bad night for the kennels as we didn't manage a winner and little Galley Crash suffered a nasty gracilis injury. She faces around 3 months on the sidelines.
Thursday 6th
A trip down to the seaside tonight with Kilmalady Biffo and Mercurial Star. Biffo was taking a big step up in class in his sprint open but ran very well. He was crowded on the run to the bend and took a knock at the first, he rallied quickly but was baulked again coming off the second but stuck on well to finish 4th. With a clear run he wouldn't of been too far away.
Mercurial Star made it 4 wins from his last 5 starts as he ran a game race to win his 475m Open by the shortest of short heads. Both will be returning to Hove again next week.
Friday 7th
2 winners today. Active Lark led all the way in her A2 to win in 29.22 and Boozed Aroma won her A2 in 29.24.
Saturday 8th
A great night with 3 winners and a 2nd from our 6 runners.
Puppy, Der Lone Razor got his first race win as he led from the 2nd bend to win his A8 in good style in 30.01. Spud as he is known looks to have a good racing brain on him even at this early stage and will have learnt a lot from tonight's run.
Fishersmans Leah also got her first win as she led at the 3rd turn to win her A5 in 29.78.
Ding Hero managed his first win in only his second race for the kennel as he ran a blinder to pick up kennel mate Flag Officer on the line in 29.05. I was very pleased with Ding's run and he'll be heading to Hove for a maiden 515 next week. The track and trip will be ideal for him. Flag Officer ran a very good race as well and should improve again for the run.

Sunday, 2 October 2011

Week Ending 2nd October
Monday 26th September
A quiet start to what would prove a memorable week for the kennel.
Galley Crash ran a blinder to win her A2 in 29.30. Stanton Subaru remains out of luck as she was again beaten a hd in her A3.
Tuesday 27th
A busy but successful trial day with all 9 of our dogs grading on. Tictac Butterfly (29.32) ran a lovely trial and returned sound after a lengthy injury lay off. Ding Hero (29.22), Malbay Kesha (29.79), Nags Head (29.80), Fishersmans Leah (29.98), Scobys Flash (30.20), Calling Beauty (29.54) and Gortkelly Hudini (30.09) all pleased us with their workouts. Black Beach looked fairly useful recording a good 29.33 trial. He's not had much experience and could make up into a nice dog.
On to Wimbledon for the semi finals of the St Leger where Penskey Rain lined up in trap 6 in the 2nd semi. We had a 5 dog race but it still looked very tough on paper. Pensk trapped well and paced up to the bend in contention, it all looked a bit messy from where we were standing and Head It On Jason took a crashing fall. Fortunately he soon got to his feet and looked OK. Coming out the 2nd bend Pensk was now in front and in all honesty the rest of the race was a bit of a blur as we shouted on our hero with everything we had. He happily bowled along in front and missed a bit more trouble to win by 5 1/2 lengths in 42.38. It was a messy race and Pensk got plenty of trouble himself and is capable of better but we are all over the moon to be lining up in the final of a Classic race. No doubt we will be the outsider of the field in the final but our boy will be in perfect order and will give us everything he has once again. We cant wait for Tuesday to come!
Wednesday 28th
Two winners tonight. Master Rock got his 2nd win of the month when making a late run to win his A8 in 30.30. Stanton Polly also made it two wins for the month as she won her A3 in 29.67.
Thursday 29th
A terrific night for the kennel as we had 2 winners from 3 runners at Hove. Mercurial Star justified strong kennel support as he flashed from the boxes and led all the way in his 475m open to record a very useful 27.63. Kilmalady Biffo was given a chance in a maiden sprint open after his terrific recent form at Swindon. Biffo didn't trap at his best but showed cracking early to take control of the race going in to the first bend. He strode out very well to win comfortably by 2 3/4 lengths in a good 16.41. Both Sammy and Biffo will return to the seaside again next week.
There was not good news for our other runner Fancy Collar though as he broke a bone by his dew claw and will need an operation next week. He faces around a month on the easy list which is a massive shame as he's only just returned from a lengthy break. He still rates as one of the kennel's brightest star's though and I'm convinced he'll be a very good animal next year.
Friday 30th
A very quiet day with just the one winner. Mercurial Lady won her A2 a shd in 29.25.
Saturday 1st October
Flag Officer was the star of the show tonight as he won his debut race for the kennel in 29.17. It was a good quality A2 that Maverick won which is a very big ask of a young dog first time up. He looks a very nice prospect. Ding Hero ran a good race to finish runner up to Flag Officer and will improve for that much needed run.
Calling Beauty, Active Lark and Dance Izzy all ran well in defeat.

September Dog of the Month
We've had some brilliant performers throughout Septmeber but the award has to go to Kilmalday Biffo who won all four of his races during the month. He won two A2's (29.15 & 29.03), a top heat in a personal best 28.86 (with a lighting 2.27 sectional) and a maiden sprint open at Hove.

Sunday, 25 September 2011

Week ending 25th September
Tuesday 20th
A busy trial morning with 14 dogs going through their paces. Flag Officer pleased with his 29.30 effort. Ding Hero faded badly off the last bend in his first 480m trial for over 3 months but still recorded 29.12. He'll improve nicely for that run though.
The remainder of the 'Limerick Gang' went brilliantly well in their first 4 bend trials. Malbay Kesha (29.77), Scobys Flash (29.87), Fishersmans Leah (29.85), Gortkelly Hudini (29.97), Der Lone Razor (30.26), Black Beach (29.61) and Nags Head (29.91).
Wednesday 21st
Rusty Lisa led all the way in her A5 to win in 29.89 while Master Rock, I Certainly May and Sunvalley Crash all had to settle for silver medals.
Friday 22nd
First to Wimbledon where Superstar Lily and Penskey Rain were contesting the Quarter Finals of the St Leger. Megan who had posted a quick time in the first round went out of the competition as she finished last in her race. She got slightly crowded on the bend but showed little afterwards. She has now been retired to the breeding paddocks after finishing sore again. Megan has been a great bitch for us and has given us an awful lot of fun. Fingers crossed she will produce some pups as good as she was. There was better news for Penskey though as he ran a blinder to finish 2nd in his race. Pensk improved massively from last week and thoroughly deserves his shot in the semi final. We've a 5 dog race as well on Tuesday so we are all keeping everything crossed that he can make the final. It would be a dream come true to get there.
At Swindon Tommy The Wheel notched another A1 win as he led at the third bend to win going away in 28.97. Forest Ted finished 5th in the same race after having a very troubled run. Teddy boy has ripped a dew claw out and sustained a nasty spike between two of his back toes so he faces a 2 or 3 weeks on the easy list.
Saturday 24th
Kilmalady Biffo was the star of the show tonight as he made it a hat trick of wins with a brilliant win in the A1. Biffo flew the lids to record a stunning 2.27 sectional and led every yard of the way to win in 28.86. He'll be heading off to Hove on Thursday for a maiden open.

Sunday, 18 September 2011

Week Ending 17th September
Monday 12th
Just the one winner from today as Adamant Yankee led all the way in his A2 to record 29.38.
Tuesday 13th
A busy day with 9 dogs going for sprint trials including 8 of the new batch from Limerick.
Ding Hero really pleased me with his 16.29 solo workout. He was full of running into the drop and will be stepped up to four bends next week.
Flag Officer looked the pick of the new dogs as he recorded a very decent 16.42. He didn't run the track very well either and looks a really nice prospect.
Wednesday 14th
The brilliant Forest Ted won yet another 509m open as he led around the bend and just held on to win in 30.58. Teddy has now won 9 of his last 13 races including 5 of his 8 open races to date.
Kilmalady Biffo ran a cracking race to win his A2 in 29.03. He beat kennel mate Liscrea Premier by 1/2 a length after showing superb pace to the third bend. He'll be heading down to Hove in the next week or two for a maiden.
Friday 16th
3 winners from today. Rusty Lisa led all the way in her A5 to win in 29.85. Baby Bubba soon led in his A3 to win in 29.40 and Mercurial Lady beat Springlawn Jacko a hd in 29.26.
Saturday 17th
A terrific night for the kennel as the dogs all ran their hearts out for us.
To Wimbledon first where Superstar Lily and Penskey Rain both ran in the first round of the St Leger. Megan finished a very good runner up to the fastest time of the night and safely qualified for the next round. Megan turned out to be the second quickest dog in the competition on the night. Penskey Rain ran a really good race to finish 3rd in his heat. He certainly needed the race as he hadn't run for two months and will improve for the blow. We have been given some really hard heats but are delighted to be able to take our chance in the quarter finals.
The feature race at Swindon was a good quality A1 where we had both Tommy The Wheel and Mercurial Star running. The complete rest we gave to Mercurial certainly did the trick as he flew the lids to win in a fast 28.55. Tommy ran a blinder to finish as runner up and pushed Sammy all the way. A great effort by the boys.
Week ending 11th September
Monday 5th
A good start to the week with 2 winners.
Galley Crash got up to win her A2 in 29.22 and Moving Merry got a much deserved win in her A2 recording 29.34.
Tuesday 6th
Ding Hero returned from his 3 month lay off to record a decent 16.54 sprint. He really needed the blow and should improve nicely for that. He returned sound which was the main thing.
Dance Izzy returned from her lengthy injury lay off to record a good 16.79.
I Certainly May clocked 16.92 in her sprint after being knocked over last time out.
Unfortunately Northcamp Ellie looks set to be retired after tearing a shoulder. Ellie won no end of races for us and has been great fun.
Wednesday 7th
A terrific night for the kennel as we returned with 4 winners.
Forest Ted continued his excellent recent form with another victory in the 509m open. He led all the way to record 30.20.
Motor Home ran a blinder as she led close home to win her A2 in a good 29.14.
Reagrove Dream got her first win for a while as she led on the run in to win her A6 in 29.93.
Molly The second completed the night's work as she led around the 3rd bend to win her A3 in 29.27.
Earlier in the evening both Mercurial Star and Tommy The Wheel ran a bit flat in the 480m open. Tommy came back with a bruised toe and will need a short rest while Mercurial Star had nothing left to give after running two brilliant races over the 509m trip. Sammy will be given a complete rest for 10 days or so before returning to action.
Friday 9th
A good day produced another 4 winners.
Master Rock got the ball rolling with victory in his A8. The Tank led on the run in to win in 30.28.
Springlawn Goofy led all the way to win his A4 well in 29.38.
Princess Ziggy surprised us all as she flew the lids and led all the way in the S3 beating kennel mate Mutter To Razor in 42.67.
Boozed Aroma made it two from two as she flew out and made every post a winning one. She won her A2 in 29.21.
There was some bad news though as Coolykereen Jig tore his gracilis. We'll give him every chance to make a comeback but he wont be risked unless he's 100%.
Saturday 10th
Just the one winner tonight as Sunvalley Crash beat kennel mate I Certainly May in their A3. Crash led at halfway and went on to win well in 29.38.
Fancy Collar beat Penskey Rain by 3/4 in 28.95 in a pre race trial. It was penskey's first trial in around 7 weeks so we were delighted with his effort.
Dance Izzy won her trial in a good 29.67.
The gallop was well used today as Ding Hero, Precious Hawk, Butchers Bounty, Tictac Butterfly, Stanton Bluebell, Kilmalady Biffo, Springlawn Jacko, Liscrea Premier, Forest Crash, Lady Jaro, Moody Mare and Calling Beauty were all put through their paces.

Monday, 5 September 2011

Week ending 3rd September
Monday 29th
A good start to the week with 2 winners. Moody Mare recorded a personal best 29.57 when leading all the way to win her A4. Butchers Bounty flew the boxes to lead all the way in his A2 to record a good 29.36.
Tuesday 30th
Fancy Collar (29.17), Coolykereen Jig (29.89) and Northcamp Ellie (30.04) all went well enough in their trials today. Meanwhile at Limerick sales we purchased 9 new recruits for the kennel. We've 6 2010 puppies and 3 late 2009 dogs. It was a brilliant sale and we really have some cracking prospects to look forward to.
Wednesday 31st
A terrific night for the kennel as we managed to get a 1-2 in the monkey 509 final. Mercurial Star ended up beating Forest Ted by 1 1/4 lengths in 30.58 but the result could have very different if Ted had made it around the first corner without trouble. He flew the lids and looked destined for victory until the 1 dog moved off at the bend and crowded him out. Ted ran a terrific race afterwards though to push Sammy all the way to the line. Sammy fell out the boxes but paced up well but took a fair knock on the first bend. He showed great back straight pace and really battled hard to get the better of the favourite and stuck on well to win. A brilliant effort by the boys and a great result for the kennel.
Tommy The Wheel had got the night off to a wonderful start as he comfortably won his 480m open. Tommy was slowly away but paced up well and looked in control of the race at the third turn and stayed on strongly to win in 28.97.
Friday 2nd
A good day as we returned with 5 winners.
Stanton Sarah continued her excellent recent form as she won her A4 in 29.68.
Stanton Polly won an A3 at the 17th attempt! She led at the halfway point to win in 29.49 and thoroughly deserved a win after running well recently.
Boozed Aroma flew the lids to win her A2 in great style. It was only her 2nd race back from season so it was a terrific effort. She won in 29.39.
Kilmalady Biffo ran one of his best races so far to win his A2 in 29.15. Biffo broke slowly but showed terrific pace up to lead at the bend and never looked in danger of being beaten. Biffo is in great form at present and it will take a good'un to beat him next time.
Active Lark completed the days work with a trap to line win in her A2. Larky had looked very harshly treated after being put back in A2 after a best trial of 29.88 but got a bit of luck in running as she missed the trouble at the bend to win in 29.57.
Saturday 3rd
No winners tonight but there were a couple of good performances. Although having 5th and 6th in the A1 looks a poor result for the kennel, I was delighted with the runs of both Fancy Collar and Liscrea Premier. Pingu flew the lids and paced up very well but moved off around the 2nd bend and let the 5 dog up his inside but he battled really hard to in between the 3rd and 4th bends before running out of steam. He'll improve a lot for that run. Penny broke well but got trouble at the first. She fairly flew down the back and looked like the winner at the third bend but unfortunately she ran straight up the back of Pingu and her race was over. She'll be very interesting to watch next time out.
Superstar Lily returned after lameness to record a good 28.87 in her trial.

August Dog of the Month
There have been some good performers over the month.
Stanton Sarah has been superb again, winning 3 of her 6 races.
Mercurial Star won 2 of his 4 open races including the 509m monkey race.
But the award goes to Forest Ted who has won 3 of his 5 races. Teddy won an A1 in 29.01 and 2 509m opens at Swindon and finished a gallant runner up to Mercurial in the monkey 509m race.

Sunday, 28 August 2011

Week ending 28th August
Monday 22nd
Another poor start to the week as we didn't manage a winner today.
Tuesday 23rd
A good trial session as Active Lark returned to the racing strength with a 29.82 run.
Fancy Collar went well in his first four bend trial back from injury. Pingu faded badly off the last bend and cramped up a touch but still recorded 29.34. He'll improve nicely for that much needed blow out.
Coolykeeren Jig (16.68) and Northcamp Ellie (16.71) both went well in their sprints.
Wednesday 24th
A great night as we managed to qualify both Mercurial Star and Forest Ted for the 509m Monkey final next week. Forest Ted won his heat in 30.29 after leading at the first bend. Ted has now won 7 of his last 10 races and all 3 of his opens over the 509 trip.
Mercurial Star was always 2nd in his open but will go close in the final if he breaks in his best fashion.
Kilmalady Biffo and Stanton Subaru both ran well in defeat.
Thursday 25th
Tommy The Wheel ran a good race to finish 4th in his 450m open. He got crowded at the bend which ave him little hope of winning after that. Hopefully he'll be running in a 480m open at Swindon next week.
