Week ending 2nd August 2009
Monday 27thA frustrating start to the week with yet another 3 seconds to add to our recent collection!
Stanton Spaniel, Nightgirls Annie and Puerto Bound all finished runner up in their races. Whateverittakes, Stanton Sarah, Bet Ya Clodagh and Field Son all ran well enough when finishing 3rd in their races.
Tuesday 28th
7 of our kennel went for trials today. Redstone Turk went well when posting a fastest-of-the-session 28.83. He hadn't been given a run for nearly 3 weeks and would have needed this pipe opener. He'll be heading out on the Open Race circuit soon.
Veteran, Full Bloom, had his first workout for the kennel and posted the fastest sprint of the day, 16.54. He moved well and is another who will be heading off for a few Opens around the Country.
Lady Jaro returned to the track after a four month injury lay off and went brilliantly in her sprint trial. She posted 16.81. She is still only a puppy and will be a really nice sort if staying sound.
Queen Merykara, who has not raced for nearly 6 months due to season and a severe shoulder injury, pleased us with a decent 16.94 sprint. She has won a couple of A1's in the past and she will be a welcome addition to the kennel strength if staying sound.
Parnell Lee continued his comeback from injury with a decent 16.81 trial. Lee is a gentle giant of a dog and will be ready for a four bend trial next week.
Wednesday 29th
Hopefully a night that will signal the end of our 'seconditis'. 2 winners from our 5 runners. Stanton Tom - highlighted last week as a dog to bet next time- duly won his A3 in good fashion. He led round the first and was in little danger of being beaten. He won in 29.38 and will continue to improve.
Ashby Crown was our other winner, he won a messy A2 by nearly 8 lengths in 29.53. He certainly seems to love the wet conditions that we had tonight.
Friday 31st
A fantastic day with 4 winners and 3 seconds. Strictly Baileys got the day off to a flying start when coming from off the pace to win his A5 in a career best 29.59. He just caught Stanton Spaniel close home. She also ran a cracker and recorded a personal best.
Realt Gael soon struck the front in her A4 contest and never looked in danger of being caught. She won in 29.58. The star of the show however was Puerto Bound. She flew from the boxes and led all the way to win her A2 by nearly 6 lengths in a career best of 28.91. She is a very capable bitch when getting things right.
Twiglish Whitty was our winner from the evening meeting. Ellie, having only her second race of her life, hit the front down the back straight and won gamely in 29.79.
One of note from today is Ling. She finished 2nd in her A3 and would have won if breaking in her normal fashion. Stanton Buddy is also worthy of a mention. He finished a good 2nd in his A1, he led until off the second bend and ran well. He's not been given many runs of late and would of needed this run.
Saturday 1st August
One winner and a second from our 5 runners. Ballyphilip Lady returned to action after a couple of months off to lead all the way in her A4. She has only raced twice for the kennel but has won both times and looks a useful sort. She is a full sister to Stanton Buddy who runs A1.
*July Dog of the Month*
This months award goes to Strictly Baileys. Although he has only raced twice in the month, he has won on both occasions. Simba, has had his problems in his short career but has returned brilliantly well since his last setback and it's been a very good achievement by him to perform as well as he has done. Fingers crossed he has a good August as well !
