Week ending 29th March 2009
Monday 23rd
The week began with a single winner. Stanton Ollie made all in the A3 to score in 29.42. This fellow is only an August 07 pup and is still learning the game but is improving and getting stronger all the time. His front running style means he's always in with a shout.
Tuesday 24th
This trial session began very badly with Queen Merykara picking up a serious shoulder injury. Just returning from season she blasted from the traps only to break down rounding the 2nd bend. Fingers crossed this top heat winner will return to racing in time.
However the session finished on a brighter note with Ballinorig Maeve posting a highly pleasing 16.55 in only her 2nd sprint trial back from a season break. She is certainly one for the note book.
Wednesday 25th
A terrific night for the kennel when scoring in both the top heats of the night which ended in 3 winners from 7 runners.
Clonark Brett flew from traps and was never in danger of being beaten. She won the A1 in a fastest of the night 28.95. She has only just turned 2 years of age and should improve further.
Forest Best also won an A1 but in slightly surprising fashion. His normal catch me if you can style was replaced by a gutsy performance to lead off the last bend and score by just over a length. His winning time of 29.15 was little indication of how well he ran.
The nights hat-trick was completed by the evergreen Shelbourne Royal in the S2. At four and a half years of age she rolled back the years to score by just under 5 lengths in a career best 42.19.
One to note from tonight is Well Lilly. Poorly drawn in trap 3 in the S1 she all but made the bend infront before being badly crowded. With an inside draw she surely would have gone close.
Friday 27th
A fairly quiet day for the kennel in terms of runners still produced 2 winners. Stanton Ellie found some form to win the A4 in 29.85 and Stanton Leroy made all in the A3 to record 29.46.
Saturday 28th
A quiet night with just 3 runners and certainly one to forget after the serious injury sustained to Lady Jaro. Competing in only her 3rd career start this September 07 baby was badly crowded in the A2 and did not finish. She has suffered a serious injury to her shoulder but we will not know the full extent until after the physio has given her a check over. Fingers crossed for this highly promising pup.
